LEGO SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Set Announced for June Release

A brand new collaboration between LEGO and SEGA is bringing a nostalgic piece of 16-bit history back into the living room.
The LEGO SEGA Genesis Console (40926) is an upcoming building set that allows fans to construct a highly detailed homage to the legendary video game hardware.

Originally released as the Mega Drive in Japan in 1988 before arriving in North America as the Genesis in 1989, this iconic machine defined an entire generation of interactive entertainment.

The 16-bit system was famous for delivering high-speed arcade action directly to players, sparking fierce industry rivalries that helped shape the modern gaming landscape.

This new display piece perfectly captures the retro aesthetic of that unforgettable era, perfectly recreating the original hardware.

Consisting of 479 individual pieces, the build is targeted towards creators aged twelve and older who have an appreciation for old-school gaming.

Builders can fully customize the external appearance of the console, choosing to decorate it with included stickers to resemble either the North American Genesis or the Japanese Mega Drive.

The incredibly detailed layout features two detachable controllers that connect directly to the main unit for a complete visual display.

The system’s classic ergonomic control pads and sleek black casing have been faithfully translated into brick form to maximize authenticity.

It also includes a specially designed brick-built game cartridge that can be freely inserted or removed from the top slot.

Dedicated builders will even discover a hidden Sonic the Hedgehog portrait serving as a fun Easter egg tucked inside the build.

When fully assembled, the main console unit measures approximately 4cm high, 16cm wide, and 12cm deep.

The accompanying retro controllers each measure roughly 2cm in height, 8cm in width, and 24cm in depth.

This nostalgic model serves as a fantastic piece of video game decor to show off proudly in a gaming room, bedroom, or office.

The LEGO SEGA Genesis Console set is priced at $39.99 USD (approx. £34.99 GBP / €39.99).
Orders will open on Monday, June 1, 2026, via the official LEGO online store.
