Seraph of the End Manga to End After 14 Years

Seraph of the End Manga

The dark fantasy manga series Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign is officially preparing to bring its story to a close after 14 years of serialization.

The afterword included in the 36th compiled volume, which was released in Japan on Friday, May 1, 2026, confirmed that the series will conclude with its upcoming 37th volume.

Created by writer Takaya Kagami, artist Yamato Yamamoto, and storyboard artist Daisuke Furuya, the manga first launched in Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine in 2012.

The narrative takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a mysterious virus has eradicated the adult human population, leaving the surviving children to be enslaved by vampires.

The story centers around Yūichirō Hyakuya, a human survivor who dreams of gaining the strength necessary to wipe out the powerful vampire overlords.

For international readers, Viz Media publishes the English translation both digitally and in print across North America, having recently published the 33rd compiled volume on September 9.

Simultaneously, Viz Media and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service publish new chapters digitally alongside their initial release in Japan.

The series’ immense popularity previously inspired a television anime adaptation that aired across two 12-episode seasons throughout 2015, beginning with its initial broadcast in April before continuing with the Battle in Nagoya arc in October.

Funimation streamed both seasons as they originally aired in Japan, before subsequently releasing the entire series on home video formats.

The universe has also expanded through several spin-off projects penned by Kagami, including the prequel novel series Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose – Catastrophe at Sixteen, which was published in English by Vertical.

This prequel received a manga adaptation by Yo Asami that concluded its 12-volume run in February 2022, with the English release handled by Kodansha USA Publishing.

Following the prequel, Kagami launched the sequel novel series Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: Resurrection at Nineteen in 2017 with illustrations once again provided by Asami, which Kodansha USA Publishing is also releasing in English.
