Suda 51’s ‘Romeo is a Dead Man’ is coming to PS5 in 2026

Grasshopper Manufacture has officially unveiled its new title, “Romeo is a Dead Man,” a game set to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2026.
The announcement was made during today’s State of Play event, accompanied by a reveal trailer.

Grasshopper Manufacture, led by industry figure Suda51, is known for its distinct and often unconventional action games such as No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw.
This new title appears to continue the studio’s tradition of creating stylistically bold experiences.

“Romeo is a Dead Man” is described as Grasshopper Manufacture’s “bloodiest action game yet.”
It promises a wild ride filled with intense action, unexpected twists, and “kinda-stereotypical gimmicks.”

The story centers on Romeo Stargazer, a man whose life was saved at the last second by a time paradox.
This paradox, caused by a “genius scientist screwing around,” shattered the space-time continuum.

Now, Romeo operates as “Dead Man,” an FBI Space-Time special agent. Equipped with a mask called “Dead Gear”, his mission is to hunt down wanted space-time fugitives across multiple universes.
Gameplay will involve Romeo switching between guns and swords, utilizing enemies’ own power against them.

The game features “ridiculously clever level design” that allows players to jump between the real world, subspace, and “white-hot battles cathartic enough to collapse the universe itself!”
When facing tougher challenges, players can unleash Bloody Summer, an instant-kill special attack fueled by accumulated enemy blood.

Beyond the action, the game also weaves an adventure story that transcends space-time.
Romeo’s pursuit of fugitives intertwines with his search for his suddenly missing girlfriend, the mysterious Juliet.

The developers hint at unraveling these mysteries throughout the game, posing the question: “will Romeo be able to see the tears of time?!”
More information on “Romeo is a Dead Man” is expected to be released as its 2026 launch approaches.
Other games announced as part of the State of Play event included Nioh 3, Capcom’s Pragmata, a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster and a Marvel based 4v4 tag team fighting game.
