Sanrio’s New Cheerleader-Themed Unit Launches Its First Official Merch Collection

Sanrio’s newly formed Cheeristails unit has received its first official merchandise collection, bringing Marroncream, USaHa*Na, Wish Me Mell and Bonbonribbon together across 21 colorful new items.
The four rabbit characters wear matching cheerleader-inspired outfits customized around their individual colors and motifs, with pom-poms, ribbons and frills carrying the theme across plushies, accessories, bags and stationery.

Cheeristails was formed in June 2026, bringing together characters introduced across several different generations of Sanrio history, from Marroncream’s 1985 debut through USaHa*Na in 2000, Wish Me Mell in 2010 and Bonbonribbon in 2012.

The unit uses the concept “Four tails, one step together,” with its members encouraging fans to value their individuality and take their own next step forward.

That idea continues into the debut merchandise range through the theme “Colorful is Cheerful!,” with each character retaining her own recognizable colors while sharing the same cheerful team styling.
Let’s take a look at the complete Cheeristails debut collection!
- Plushies (4 designs) – ¥3,498 each (approximately $23 USD / £17 GBP)

Marroncream, USaHa*Na, Wish Me Mell and Bonbonribbon each receive a plush wearing a cheerleader-style dress decorated with motifs associated with the individual character.
- Mascot Holders (4 designs) – ¥2,497 each (approximately $16 USD / £12 GBP)

Smaller versions of the four characters wear the same cheer outfits, with heart-shaped carabiners allowing them to be attached to bags and other accessories.
- Keychains (4 designs) – ¥1,496 each (approximately $10 USD / £7 GBP)

Each keychain combines a small three-dimensional character mascot with a colorful pom-pom and woven strap carrying the Cheeristails logo.
- Mirrors (4 designs) – ¥1,650 each (approximately $11 USD / £8 GBP)

The character mirrors use decorative stones and an aurora-effect finish for a sparkling appearance, while their freestanding design also allows them to be used as small tabletop mirrors.
- Tote Bag – ¥2,497 (approximately $16 USD / £12 GBP)

The A4-compatible tote brings all four characters together and adds colorful pom-poms and frilled detailing around the cheer-themed artwork.
- Pouch – ¥1,980 (approximately $13 USD / £9 GBP)

A compact everyday pouch decorated with the Cheeristails artwork, with tulle pom-poms and frills continuing the styling used throughout the collection.
- Petit Towel – ¥792 (approximately $5 USD / £4 GBP)

The small towel features Cheeristails artwork finished with pom-pom lace around the edge.
- Sticker Set – ¥550 (approximately $4 USD / £3 GBP)

The 21-piece set uses a holographic finish across its character and logo stickers, with sizes suitable for decorating notebooks, laptops or the inside of a clear smartphone case.
- Secret Mascot – ¥990 each (approximately $6 USD / £5 GBP)

Eight possible three-dimensional mascots are available at random, each using a different cheering pose and including a base that allows the character to stand independently.
The first collection gives Cheeristails a much larger physical presence following the unit’s launch earlier this year, while Sanrio is also developing the group through music and live character appearances.

All four members are scheduled to appear together at Sunshine City’s Fountain Square in Tokyo on September 20, where a special Cheeristails show will include a performance of the unit’s theme song, “Cheeristails!”.

Wish Me Mell has also appeared in another new Sanrio range this month, joining Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll for the recently revealed Cat-Ear Maid Café merchandise collection.

The “Everyone Cheer! Cheeristails Series” launched in Japan on September 16, 2026 through Sanrio-operated stores, participating Sanrio departments and the official Sanrio Online Shop, with selected stores in Kyushu, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Kagawa, Ehime and Okinawa beginning sales on September 17.
Initial purchase limits apply to the collection, with physical stores limiting customers to one of each character-specific item and up to eight Secret Mascots, while the Sanrio Online Shop allows up to two of each character-specific item and eight Secret Mascots during its limited-sales period.
