Sanrio releases new Hapidanbui merch to celebrate Pekkle’s 35th anniversary

Sanrio fans have a new reason to celebrate as the company has announced a special merchandise line in honor of the anniversary of one of Ahiru no Pekkle.

The new “Sanrio Happy Party Series,” merchandise collection features Pekkle celebrating his 35th anniversary with the rest popular Sanrio boy band, Hapidanbui.

Ahiru no Pekkle, a good-natured and kind-hearted duck, first debuted in 1989 and has been a fan favorite for his love of singing and dancing.

While he may not be the best swimmer, his cheerful personality has won the hearts of many fans.

Hapidanbui is a group consisting of six retro Sanrio characters: Tuxedosam, Badtz-maru, Hangyodon, Pochacco, Keroppi, and of course, Pekkle.

Formed in 2020, the group’s message is one of positivity and encouragement, with the motto, “It’s okay! You’re still you, I’m sure it will work out.”

The “Sanrio Happy Party Series” embodies a celebratory theme, with designs showcasing the Hapidanbui characters enjoying a party with a cake shaped like Ahiru no Pekkle.

All the characters are depicted wearing matching sailor collars, adding to the festive and coordinated look of the collection.

The new collection is not available to for pre-order exclusively on the Munyugurumi Patio official website for a limited time, with items due to ship in early October.

To ensure that as many fans as possible can acquire these commemorative items, purchases will be limited to one of each character-specific item per person.
