Pokémon Reveals Exclusive New fragment Collab Collection Starring Pikachu and Mew
Image by James RichardsonPokémon and fragment design are reuniting for an exclusive new collection that gives Pikachu and Mew dark new makeovers across a small range of plush and apparel.
Created by Hiroshi Fujiwara’s influential Japanese design studio, the new Pokémon x FRGMT release will debut at ComplexCon Los Angeles in October as part of fragment’s extensive lineup of collaborations created for the event.
Fujiwara founded fragment design as a creative studio spanning fashion, streetwear and product design, with its distinctive double-lightning bolt mark appearing across collaborations with some of the world’s biggest brands.
Its relationship with Pokémon dates back to 2018, when the pair launched “THUNDERBOLT PROJECT BY FRGMT & POKÉMON”, initially presenting the collaboration at HYPEFEST and Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo before expanding through pop-ups and additional releases in Japan and overseas.
Those earlier collections became particularly recognizable for replacing the usual bright colors of Pokémon such as Pikachu and Mew with black and gray styling, frequently combining their silhouettes with fragment’s lightning motifs.
The new ComplexCon collection returns directly to that darker look, once again choosing Pikachu and Mew as its central Pokémon and using black as the dominant color across all four currently revealed items.
Pokémon has continued exploring designer-led fashion throughout its 30th anniversary year, recently launching a major adidas Originals collaboration featuring Pokémon including Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo and Gengar.
Image by James RichardsonThe Pokémon Center has also worked with designer Sean Wotherspoon on a separate premium plush range that reimagined Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Charizard using fabrics inspired by faded vintage clothing.
Let’s take a look at the new Pokémon x fragment collection!
- Pikachu Plush
Pikachu receives an almost completely black makeover, replacing its familiar yellow body and red cheeks with dark fabric while retaining contrasting white eyes and its instantly recognizable ears and lightning-shaped tail.
- Mew Plush
Mew receives the same all-black treatment, with its simplified dark appearance contrasted by white embroidered eyes and a clip attached above its head for carrying or displaying the plush.
- Pikachu T-Shirt
A black short-sleeved T-shirt featuring a monochrome Pikachu graphic across the chest, with white “THUNDERBOLT PROJECT BY FRGMT & POKÉMON / LOS ANGELES” branding printed across the back.
- Mew T-Shirt
The second black T-shirt replaces Pikachu with a gray Mew graphic accented by its bright eyes and a lightning-inspired tail, while repeating the Los Angeles THUNDERBOLT PROJECT branding across the rear.
The new collection forms part of a much larger selection of fragment collaborations being created for ComplexCon 2026, with Fujiwara and fragment design serving as artistic directors for this year’s Los Angeles event alongside Playboi Carti.
The Pokémon x fragment collection is currently scheduled to be sold through the ComplexCon Gift Shop during ComplexCon Los Angeles on October 3 and 4, 2026.
Prices have yet to be announced, and no wider online or international release for the new collection has been confirmed at the time of writing.
