Pokémon’s Official 30th Anniversary Designer Plush Collection Gets Limited US Release

A limited time US release has officially been confirmed for a highly sought-after premium designer plush collection that gives three iconic Pokémon a distinctive vintage-inspired makeover.
Pokémon first launched in 1996 with Pokémon Red and Green on the Game Boy and has since grown into one of the world’s biggest entertainment franchises, spanning video games, animation, trading cards, movies and merchandise loved by multiple generations of fans.

The franchise is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary year, which has produced a huge wave of collectibles for fans to commemorate the occasion, including a collection of 30 different Pikachu plushies as well as ZOZOTOWN’s enormous range of 1,025 anniversary T-shirts covering every Pokémon in the series.

This particular designer plush collaboration was first made available to fans in Japan back in July as part of the ongoing 30th anniversary celebrations, and has been directed by Los Angeles-based designer Sean Wotherspoon, who is internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading vintage collectors, co-founder of the ROUNDTWO retail chain and founder of his own fashion label, SWJP.

Created exclusively for Pokémon Center, the collaboration reimagines Bulbasaur, Charizard and Pikachu through Wotherspoon’s signature design philosophy, taking inspiration from vintage clothing details and naturally faded, well-worn fabrics to create a look unlike previous Pokémon plush releases.

Each plush has been produced using newly developed fabric printed with patterns that recreate the textured appearance and subtle fading associated with vintage apparel.

Rather than simply recreating the Pokémon in their traditional colors, the collaboration gives each plush a unique aesthetic influenced by retro streetwear culture, turning them into true collectors pieces as opposed to standard soft toys.

All three Sean Wotherspoon x Pokémon Center plushes are priced at $59.99 and can now be ordered exclusively through the official US Pokémon Center Online.

Due to expected high demand and to ensure fairness for all collectors, purchase quantities of each plush are limited to 1 per person.
