One of Turn A Gundam’s best Master Grade releases has returned for US builders, with Bandai bringing its exclusive dual Turn A Gundam and Turn X Gunpla set back into stock.

The “MG 1/100 ∀GUNDAM/TURN X [Nano Skin Image]” combines both rival Mobile Suits in a single release, giving the existing Master Grade kits special metallic molding colors and dedicated water-transfer decals inspired by their self-repairing Nano-Skin armor.

Turn A Gundam takes place in the Correct Century and follows Loran Cehack after the technologically advanced Moonrace attempts to return to an Earth that has regressed following the collapse of earlier civilizations.

Loran eventually pilots the mysterious ∀ Gundam, a machine uncovered from Earth’s past, while Gym Ghingham takes control of the equally powerful Turn X during the conflict’s final stages.

Both machines were designed by legendary industrial designer Syd Mead, whose work on films including Blade Runner, Tron and Aliens helped give Turn A Gundam some of the most unconventional mechanical designs in the wider Gundam franchise.

Bandai originally developed the Nano Skin Image set around the 2019 Syd Mead exhibition in Tokyo, bringing the two designs together with finishes intended to emphasize the advanced technology shared by the rival Mobile Suits.

Demand for the Nano Skin set has remained strong enough for it to place eighth in Bandai’s latest Premium Bandai Gunpla re-release fan poll, receiving 1,978 votes from builders choosing which older exclusives they wanted to see produced again.

Rather than simply repackaging the regular kits, the release changes the molding colors across both models to metallic and pearl-like tones, giving their armor a substantially different appearance from the standard MG versions.

The set also includes dedicated Nano Skin Image water-transfer decals produced under the supervision of Master Kawaguchi, with the irregular patterns designed to recreate the appearance of the microscopic technology spread across the machines’ armor.

Those markings reference the Nano-Skin used by both Turn A Gundam and Turn X, an advanced self-repair system capable of gradually restoring damaged armor without conventional maintenance.

The Turn A Gundam retains the engineering of Bandai’s original Master Grade release, including its transformable Core Fighter and opening chest sections, alongside a Beam Rifle, Beam Sabers, Gundam Hammer, and Shield.

Turn X brings its much more asymmetrical appearance to the other half of the set and includes its Beam Rifle, Bazooka, Hand Beam Gun and Triple Missile Launcher, as well as a dedicated display base.

Both models can also be used with Bandai’s separately sold “MG 1/100 Expansion Effect Unit Moonlight Butterfly for Turn A Gundam,” allowing the enormous energy-wing effect to be combined with the metallic Nano Skin color scheme.

Turn A Gundam has received several other US re-releases during 2026, including the exclusive “MG 1/100 ∀GUNDAM (Moonlight Butterfly Ver.),” which pairs pearl and metallic armor with the oversized holographic effect parts also included.

Bandai has also recently confirmed another US re-release for the “HGBF 1/144 ∀GUNDAM SHIN,” a heavily customized interpretation of the Turn A Gundam from Gundam Build Fighters Honoo Try that replaces several areas of Syd Mead’s original design with sharper new armor.
