Sanrio Gives Pompompurin a Dapper New Look for His First-Ever ANNA SUI Collab Collection
ANNA SUI has joined Pompompurin’s 30th anniversary celebrations with a new accessories collection that gives Sanrio’s golden retriever a more formal, grown-up makeover.
This is the first collaboration between ANNA SUI and Pompompurin, with new artwork dressing him in a formal cape and silk top hat while his friend Muffin and the rest of his companions join the anniversary celebrations wearing playful moustaches.
ANNA SUI’s familiar butterfly imagery is mixed into the new character artwork, while gold-colored details and darker accents give the normally relaxed Pompompurin a more elaborate look without losing the softer styling associated with him.
The collaboration arrives during a packed anniversary year for Pompompurin, who originally debuted in 1996 and recently reclaimed his earliest appearance for Sanrio’s “Pompompurin From Back Then Design Series,” a 16-item collection inspired directly by his original merchandise.
His 30th anniversary has also produced a commemorative Japan Post collection featuring stamps and stationery, alongside a premium Seiko watch limited to 2,000 pieces and a 14-piece jewelry range from white clover.
More recently, Pompompurin joined Kuromi in Godiva’s new Halloween Black Cat Collection, showing just how many different directions Sanrio is taking the character during his milestone year.
The new ANNA SUI collection consists of five main product types, ranging from larger everyday bags to a character-shaped pouch and phone case.

- Drawstring Tote Bag – ¥25,300 (approximately $165 / £122)
The largest bag in the collection uses a soft rounded drawstring shape with enough capacity for everyday use, while an all-over glitter print combines Pompompurin and his friends with ANNA SUI butterfly motifs.
A separate charm recreating Pompompurin’s famous rear end is also included with the bag.
- Tuck Shoulder Bag – ¥20,900 (approximately $136 / £100)
This smaller shoulder bag uses structured tucks to give its compact shape extra volume while retaining enough storage for daily essentials.
It uses the same character and butterfly pattern as the larger bag and also comes with a Pompompurin rear-end charm.
- Mini Shoulder Bag – ¥17,600 (approximately $115 / £85)
Pompompurin’s anniversary outfit becomes the main feature here, with the character appearing prominently in his silk hat and cape alongside a gold-colored collaboration logo.
The compact interior is intended for smaller essentials such as a smartphone and mini wallet.
- Pompompurin Face Pouch Charm – ¥13,200 (approximately $86 / £63)
The character-shaped accessory recreates Pompompurin’s face while hiding a small gusseted pouch inside, providing enough room for items such as wireless earbuds and other small accessories.
- Pompompurin iPhone Case – ¥4,950 (approximately $32 / £24)
The case uses the collaboration’s anniversary artwork across its exterior and will initially be available for the iPhone 13, 14 and 15.
An additional iPhone 17 version is also planned exclusively through the KUIPO Online Shop.
The Pompompurin x ANNA SUI collection launches on September 16, 2026, with online sales beginning at 10:00 AM JST on the same day.
Physical availability will be limited to participating ANNA SUI stores and department stores across Japan, while online orders will be offered through KUIPO Online and the ANNA SUI Japan Web Store.
