Sanrio Celebrates Kuromi’s Birthday with Exclusive New Idol-Inspired Collection
Image by James RichardsonKuromi is celebrating her upcoming birthday with a new six-piece collection of plushies and accessories, based on exclusive new artwork created specially for her big day.
The new “Kuromi’s ♡ Birthday Party ♡” collection comes from FuRyu and imagines Kuromi enjoying a glamorous birthday celebration alongside My Melody, with both characters dressed in elaborate idol-inspired stage outfits.
Kuromi’s look combines her familiar black and purple colors with frills, ribbons and heart details, while My Melody provides a contrasting pink design built around many of the same decorative elements.
The collection arrives ahead of Kuromi’s birthday on October 31, a date that has always given Sanrio’s mischievous character a particularly fitting connection to the Halloween season.
Kuromi also recently appeared in Godiva Japan’s new Halloween collection, where she and Pompompurin were recently transformed into black cats for a pair of exclusive seasonal plush charm sets.
FuRyu’s new birthday range focuses on the specially created idol artwork across six items, ranging from large plushies to tableware and storage.

- Kuromi no ♡ Birthday Party ♡ BIG Plushie
Two large plush designs featuring Kuromi and My Melody in their birthday stage costumes, complete with prominent frills, ribbons and heart decorations.
- Kurippy Plushie: Kuromi no ♡ Birthday Party ♡
Three smaller plush designs based around the same birthday theme, offering additional versions of Kuromi and My Melody in their colorful performance outfits.
- Kuromi no ♡ Birthday Party ♡ Puppet Mascot
Four compact mascots that can be used as finger puppets, with loops on their heads allowing them to double as accessories for bags and pouches.
- Kuromi no ♡ Birthday Party ♡ Pyokokyun Scrunchie
Six designs combining small character mascots with sparkling aurora-colored material, allowing them to be worn in your hair or around your wrist as well as attached to a bag as an accessory.

Two large baskets featuring the newly created birthday artwork, turning the collection’s Kuromi and My Melody illustrations into a practical storage item for a bedroom or collection space.

Two coordinated tableware designs that combine the new character artwork with a polka-dot pattern, with separate Kuromi and My Melody versions that can also be displayed together as a matching pair.
The range continues a particularly busy year for Kuromi merchandise, with recent releases spanning fashion, beauty products and character collaborations alongside Sanrio’s regular seasonal collections.
Among them was a dedicated SNIDEL HOME collection built around original artwork of Kuromi dressing up, bringing the character’s contrasting cute and rebellious image to loungewear and embroidered accessories.
All six “Kuromi’s ♡ Birthday Party ♡” items are being released as FuRyu-exclusive crane-game prizes rather than standard retail products.
The collection will begin appearing at participating amusement facilities across Japan from the third week of September 2026, although availability will vary between individual locations.
