Sanrio and HORI Unveil New Kuromi Nintendo Switch 2 Controller and Accessories
Sanrio’s Kuromi is getting a new set of officially licensed Nintendo Switch 2 accessories from HORI, led by a full-size wireless controller that hides her sidekick Baku behind its analog sticks.
The new “Kuromi Wireless HORIPAD TURBO” uses a translucent body covered with Kuromi artwork, with Baku positioned beneath the sticks so parts of the character appear as they are moved during gameplay.
It is a substantial upgrade over the smaller wired HORIPAD TURBO Mini that HORI previously released for Kuromi, adding wireless connectivity alongside a broader selection of controller features.
That earlier Kuromi range also included a matching Puffy Hybrid Pouch for carrying a Nintendo Switch 2 and up to 10 game cards, while Cinnamoroll also received equivalent versions of both products.
The new controller switches to TMR analog sticks, which use contactless magnetic sensors to reduce the wear that can eventually cause conventional stick mechanisms to register inputs incorrectly.
HORI has also equipped it with gyro and acceleration sensors, a dedicated C Button for quickly opening GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2 and programmable rear buttons that can be assigned to frequently used controls.
Its Turbo and Turbo Hold functions can repeatedly trigger compatible inputs at approximately 5, 10 or 20 presses per second, while button assignments can be duplicated, swapped or disabled depending on how you want the controller configured.
Two-button combinations can even be assigned to a single input, with up to two different control profiles stored directly on the controller for quick switching between setups.
A separate button-lock system can disable selected central controls to help prevent accidental HOME, Capture, HORI, + or – button presses during gameplay.
The controller weighs around 235g and uses slightly narrower grips that curve inward, with HORI designing the shape to remain comfortable across a wider range of hand sizes.
Bluetooth 5.0 handles the wireless connection, with approximately 10 hours of continuous use available from a full charge and around three hours required to recharge the controller.
It can be used with Nintendo Switch 2 as well as the original Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite and OLED model, although it does not support vibration, amiibo scanning, a headset connection or waking a console from sleep.
Kuromi is also getting a completely new “Decoration Kit with Plush Toy” designed specifically for Nintendo Switch 2, combining console customization with screen protection and a small plush accessory.
The decoration sheets cover the rear of the Switch 2 console and both Joy-Con 2 controllers, adding matching Kuromi artwork without replacing any of the system’s external parts.
Alongside them is a roughly 7.5cm Kuromi “Fukigurumi,” a small plush that doubles as a screen-cleaning cloth and can also be attached to a pouch or bag when it is not being used.
A glossy screen protector completes the set, using an anti-smudge coating to reduce fingerprints and HORI’s “Pita Paste” application system to make alignment easier while limiting dust exposure before the adhesive reaches the display.
Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin are also receiving their own versions of both the new Wireless HORIPAD TURBO and Decoration Kit, with each range using character-specific artwork and accessories.
The “Kuromi Wireless HORIPAD TURBO” is scheduled for release in Japan in October 2026 for ¥8,980 (approximately $58 USD / £43 GBP), with pre-orders currently available through retailers including Amazon Japan and HORI’s own store.
The “Kuromi Decoration Kit with Plush Toy” will follow in November 2026 for ¥2,990 (approximately $19 USD / £14 GBP), with reservations also available through HORI and Japanese electronic goods retailers.
