“Reborn as a Vending Machine” anime themed rickshaw hits Tokyo’s streets this summer

Asakusa-based rickshaw tour company, Tokyo Rickshaw, has announced an unusual collaboration with the anime series, “Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon”.
The partnership celebrates the recent broadcast launch of the anime’s second season.

The series is an “isekai” fantasy that begins when the protagonist, after a traffic accident, is reincarnated in another world as a sentient vending machine.
Unable to move on his own, the vending machine, nicknamed “Boxxo,” is carried on the back of a super-strong young huntress named Lammis as they explore a dangerous dungeon together.

The tour company explained that this unique relationship between the immobile protagonist and his powerful female companion mirrors the dynamic between a rickshaw and the “shafu,” or puller, who guides passengers through the city.

This thematic connection is the basis for the new collaboration.
For a limited, 14-day period, a single, specially designed rickshaw will operate in the popular Asakusa district of Tokyo.
The vehicle has been wrapped and modified to faithfully recreate the appearance of the vending machine protagonist, Boxxo.

This one-of-a-kind rickshaw offers a unique tourism experience for both anime fans and general visitors to the historic area.
Passengers who book a ride on the special rickshaw will receive an original, collaboration-themed “uchiwa,” a traditional Japanese flat fan, as a commemorative novelty gift.
The collaboration will be offered as a 30-minute tour course and the price for the tour is ¥13,000, which is the same for either one or two passengers.
The “Boxxo” rickshaw will be in operation from Sunday, the 27th of July, to Saturday, the 9th of August.
Reservations for the special tour are now being accepted through a dedicated website.
