Hatsune Miku’s Official Japan Travel Collab Returns as “CHURA MIKU STREET” Confirmed for 2026
Image by James RichardsonHatsune Miku is returning to Okinawa later this year for a second large-scale tourism event, with the 2026 edition expanding beyond central Naha to celebrate the restoration of the historic Shuri Castle.
Developed by Crypton Future Media, Hatsune Miku began as vocal synthesis software before growing into a globally recognized virtual singer whose music, concerts and collaborations are driven heavily by the creativity of her worldwide fan community.

CHURA MIKU STREET 2026 will once again use Miku as a gateway to Okinawan food, culture and sightseeing, encouraging visitors to explore different parts of Naha rather than keeping the experience within a single venue.

The event’s name combines “Chura,” an Okinawan word associated with beauty, with Kokusai Street’s designation as Prefectural Route 39, creating the “MIKU STREET” wordplay at the heart of the project.
The first CHURA MIKU STREET took place in 2025 around Kokusai Street, featuring a stamp rally, collaboration food, a pop-up shop and merchandise that combined Hatsune Miku with traditional Okinawan crafts.

This year’s version significantly expands that idea by extending into the Shuri area, with Shuri Castle’s restoration and the preservation of Okinawan culture forming one of the main themes of the event.

Shuri Castle’s main hall has been undergoing reconstruction after being destroyed by fire in October 2019, with the restored building scheduled to formally reopen to the public on November 23, 2026.

Organizers hope the collaboration will encourage younger visitors and Miku fans who may have had little previous exposure to Shuri Castle or Ryukyuan history to explore the area while taking part in the event.

A newly created main visual by illustrator しし上 presents Miku in an outfit incorporating motifs inspired by Eisa dancing, Shuri Castle and the deigo flower, giving her a different Okinawan look from the Ryukyu-style costume used for the 2025 event.

Her shoes were designed by Japanese footwear and bag brand DIANA, which is also participating in the project’s efforts to support awareness surrounding Shuri Castle’s restoration.

Two additional illustrations expand the visual theme, with maple depicting an energetic Miku inspired by Okinawa and Fuku Kitsune creating a summer design centered around the island’s clear ocean and a newly designed swimsuit.

A range of exclusive merchandise based on these illustrations is planned, with the full reveal set to take place closer to the start of the event.

Fans traveling within Japan can also book a dedicated “CHURA MIKU STREET 2026 Okinawa Travel Plan,” with options combining flights and accommodation or accommodation alone.

Anyone booking through the official travel program will receive three exclusive event items consisting of an SNS-style acrylic keychain, muffler towel and clear bottle, with reservations available from August 19 through September 23.

A Hatsune Miku greeting event is also planned for December 12 in Naha, giving visitors the chance to take photographs and videos with Miku as another part of the wider celebration.

Participation in the greeting event will be free, although its exact location within Naha will be announced closer to the date.
A stamp rally will also take place around Kokusai Street and the area surrounding Shuri Castle, leading fans on a tour of lesser known local spots as opposed to major tourist sights.

CHURA MIKU STREET 2026 will run across Kokusai Street and the Shuri Castle area of Naha from November 1 through December 13, 2026, with further activities and collaboration details set to be announced before the event begins.
Fans planning their trip specifically around the restored Shuri Castle main hall should keep in mind that public access begins on November 23, several weeks after CHURA MIKU STREET itself opens.
