Rascal Does Not Dream Of A Dear Friend Movie Debuts October 2026

Aniplex has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend during an event at AnimeJapan 2026 on March 29, 2026.
The promotional video confirms that the movie is scheduled for a theatrical release in Japan on October 16, 2026.

This new installment serves as a sequel to the light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida, which saw its final volume released in Japan in October 2024.
Director Soichi Masui is returning to lead the production at CloverWorks, maintaining the creative team from previous entries in the franchise.
Masahiro Yokotani is handling the script, while Satomi Tamura provides the character designs and fox capture plan composes the musical score.
The story follows protagonist Sakuta Azusagawa as he navigates a reality where impossible dreams begin to manifest following a public confession by Mai Sakurajima on April 1.

Sakuta must track down a mysterious singer named Toko Kirishima to resolve a new instance of Adolescent Syndrome before reality is permanently altered.
Crunchyroll continues to host the previous animated entries, including the 2018 television series Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai and the three films released between 2019 and 2023.
Fans also recently saw the broadcast of the television series Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, which aired in 2025.

International fans can access the original source material through Yen Press, which publishes the English language versions of the light novels.
