The Silent Service Live-Action Series Part 3 Teaser Trailer Released
The official Prime Video Japan YouTube channel has released a super teaser trailer for the third installment of the live-action series adaptation of The Silent Service on March 20, 2026.
Based on the acclaimed manga by Kaiji Kawaguchi, which saw serialization in Weekly Morning from 1988 to 1996, the upcoming project aims to adapt the remainder of the original story through to its conclusion.
The newly released footage features commentary from lead actors Takao Osawa and Hiroshi Tamaki, who portray Shiro Kaieda and Hiroshi Fukamachi respectively.
Osawa noted that the sequel will showcase the most powerful visuals and heart-pounding story beats as the narrative reaches its climax.
Tamaki highlighted the evolution of the rivalry between his character and Kaieda as a primary focus for the new episodes.
The franchise began its modern live-action run with a theatrical film released in Japan on September 29, 2023, which was Amazon Studios’ first Japanese theatrical production.
This was followed by an eight-episode web drama titled The Silent Service Season One – The Battle of Tokyo Bay, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in February 2024.
A second feature film, The Silent Service: The Battle of Arctic Ocean, arrived in Japanese theaters on September 26, 2025.
Coinciding with the new teaser, an extended version of the second film containing previously unreleased scenes also began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on March 20, 2026.
The series follows the crew of the Seabat, a high-tech nuclear submarine that mutinies under the command of Shiro Kaieda after a staged collision intended to cover its secret construction.
With over 32 million copies of the original 32-volume manga in circulation, the production continues to build on a legacy of tense political and naval drama.
