Pokémon's Original Starters Become Luxury $725 Designer Chairs in New Limited-Edition Collection

Pokémon has officially launched a limited-edition furniture collection featuring luxury designer chairs inspired by four of its most beloved original monsters.

The “Pokémon + 100 Thieves by Modernica” collection transforms Modernica’s iconic Case Study Shell Chair into four handcrafted designs featuring Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu, with elaborate blue-and-white illustrations inspired by traditional fine china.

Pokémon is celebrating its 30th anniversary throughout 2026, marking three decades since the original Pokémon Red and Green games introduced players to the Kanto region and its first 151 monsters.

Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle were the original starter Pokémon offered to players at the beginning of their adventures, while Pikachu went on to become the franchise’s internationally recognized mascot.

The collaboration also marks the latest partnership between Pokémon and 100 Thieves, the American gaming and lifestyle brand known for its esports teams and streetwear collections.

The two previously worked together on a 19-piece apparel range in October 2025, featuring clothing inspired by Pokémon including Pikachu, Mew, Dragonite and Charizard.

For this new collection, 100 Thieves has partnered with Los Angeles-based furniture manufacturer Modernica, which has specialized in handcrafted fiberglass furniture since 1989.

Each chair uses Modernica’s Case Study Shell design, combining a smoothly curved fiberglass seat with an Eiffel-style metal base finished in zinc.

The seats feature porcelain-white surfaces decorated with intricate blue artwork, combining detailed natural landscapes, flowers, and other traditional motifs with the Pokémon themselves.

Modernica produces the fiberglass shells by hand using layers of pigmented resin, resulting in subtle variations in the patterns, coloring, and translucency of each finished piece.

Let’s take a closer look at all four designs!

Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur peeks out from beside a large tree in a woodland scene, surrounded by foliage and floral detailing that stretches across the curved seat.

Charmander

Charmander stands in a scenic landscape featuring towering rock formations, trees and flowering plants, with the artwork presented entirely in delicate shades of blue.

Squirtle

Squirtle appears in a playful pose against an expansive natural landscape, with decorative branches and scenic patterns surrounding the Water-type Pokémon.

Pikachu

Pikachu sits in a grassy clearing framed by mountains and trees, with flowers and blue landscape artwork extending across the chair’s surface.

The designs cover both the backrest and seating area, giving each piece the appearance of a large porcelain illustration wrapped around the furniture’s curved shell.

The collaboration follows several other Pokémon furniture releases during 2026, including Secretlab’s official gaming chair collection featuring Pikachu, Eevee and Gengar.

Japanese furniture manufacturer Cellutane also expanded its Pokémon seating range earlier this year with a giant Psyduck bead sofa, joining previous designs based on Gengar, Rowlet and Sizzlipede.

The “Pokémon + 100 Thieves by Modernica” collection is now available via the official 100 Thieves online store, with all four Case Study Shell Chairs priced at $725 each and produced in extremely limited quantities.

Shipping is restricted to the United States and Japan, and purchases are limited to one chair per customer.
