Pokémon’s Baskin-Robbins Collab Returns for Christmas 2026 with New 30th Anniversary Design
Image by James RichardsonBaskin-Robbins Japan is bringing back its popular Pokémon Christmas ice cream cake for 2026 with a completely new design celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
The returning “Pokémon Christmas Ice Cream Cake” transforms this year’s dessert into a colorful Christmas present decorated with Pikachu, Eevee, the original Kanto partner Pokémon and Ditto.

The seasonal cake has become a recurring part of Baskin-Robbins Japan’s Christmas lineup, receiving different Pokémon artwork and decorations each year rather than simply returning unchanged.

Last year’s version recreated a snowy mountain scene with a pale blue whipped cream coating, snow-covered trees and sugar decorations of Pikachu, Eevee and Piplup, with additional Pokémon supplied as removable picks.

For 2026, Baskin-Robbins has completely replaced that winter landscape with a large present box design that ties directly into Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

A large whipped cream ribbon stretches across the middle of the cake to create the appearance of a wrapped Christmas gift, with chocolate decorations of Pikachu and Eevee positioned across the top.

Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle represent the original Kanto partner Pokémon through removable picks, with Ditto joining them as another decoration that can be positioned around the cake before serving.

The anniversary theme continues across the presentation beneath and around the dessert, with the cake board decorated using present motifs and the same Pokémon featured on top.

Its surrounding film is covered with additional Pokémon artwork and designed to resemble colorful wrapping paper, extending the Christmas present concept around the complete cake.

Baskin-Robbins has retained Popping Shower as one half of the ice cream combination, pairing the fan-favorite flavor with Chocolate Chip for the new version.

That also marks another change from the 2025 cake, which combined Popping Shower with Chopped Chocolate beneath its snowy exterior.
Pokémon and Baskin-Robbins have already celebrated the franchise’s 30th anniversary together earlier this year through the returning annual “Pokémon Summer” campaign, which introduced the new Pikachu’s Volt Tackle Pine Squash flavor alongside themed sundaes, drinks, collectibles and refreshed Pokémon ice cream cakes.

That summer lineup also highlighted Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle alongside partner Pokémon from every later generation, making the Kanto trio’s return for the Christmas cake another direct reference to the games that began the franchise in 1996.

Pokémon’s anniversary has inspired several other sweet releases during 2026, including the return of the Eevee Tokyo Banana after a four-year absence and a new Ginza Cozy Corner range featuring character-themed cakes and baked goods.

The 2026 “Pokémon Christmas Ice Cream Cake” is priced at ¥4,400 (approximately $28/£21) and will be sold through participating Baskin-Robbins locations across Japan as part of the “Happy ICE CREAM CHRISTMAS” campaign running from November 1 through December 25.

Mobile-order reservations opened on October 9 and will remain available until 3:00 PM on December 23 while stocks last, with collection available from December 19 through December 25, while participating stores are also accepting reservations directly from October 9.
