PlayStation Portal Update Adds 1080p High Quality Mode And Improvements

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a significant system software update for the PlayStation Portal scheduled for release on March 18, 2026.
The update introduces a new 1080p High Quality mode designed to enhance the visual fidelity of both Remote Play and Cloud Streaming sessions.
This new setting allows users to enjoy games at a higher bitrate compared to the default 1080p Standard mode, resulting in a smoother and more stable image.
To activate this feature, players must navigate to the Quick Menu and select 1080p High Quality under the Max Resolution tab before restarting their session.
Beyond visual upgrades, the March 18, 2026 firmware refines the Cloud Streaming experience with several interface improvements.
The Product Detail Page has been redesigned so that selecting a stream from a game bundle now triggers a user interface to choose a specific title.
Users will also see clearer on-screen notifications for game invites while streaming to ensure they do not miss multiplayer opportunities.
Trophy notifications have been updated to display the trophy name and image more clearly, while Platinum trophies now include their special animation.
The search interface has been adjusted to make the On Screen Keyboard available immediately upon entering the search screen.
New users will find a more streamlined onboarding process that allows for account creation and sign-in by scanning a QR code with a mobile device.
These updates arrive as engagement with the PlayStation Portal continues to grow, particularly among PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers using cloud features.
