Good Smile Company has opened pre-orders for a new, 1/7 scale figure of Motoko Kusanagi, the iconic protagonist from the legendary manga series, Ghost in the Shell.

This is a general, online pre-order for a statue that was previously offered as an exclusive, advance pre-sale at the “Masamune Shirow’s World Exhibition.”

The pre-painted, non-articulated statue is based on the famous cover illustration from the first volume of the original manga by Masamune Shirow.

The figure is a faithful recreation of that classic artwork, with new arrangements and details that are unique to a 3D medium.

It has been specially designed so that it can be propped up and displayed in a style that is similar to a photo frame.

A key feature of the figure is the special “aurora plating” that has been applied to the hair and the boots.

This finish is designed to simulate her “optical camouflage,” and it will change its appearance and color depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

The sculpt also features a high-contrast blend of textures, from her bodysuit to the various mechanical parts.

To further pursue a sense of realism, the figure incorporates real electrical cords and uses metal for the display base.
