Gundam Wing’s Exclusive Heavy Armor Sandrock Gunpla Kit Returns for Limited US Re-Release
Image by Charlotte DavisOne of Gundam Wing’s most heavily armored Sandrock Gunpla kits is available once again in the US, giving fans another chance to pick up the exclusive Master Grade release.
The “MG 1/100 GUNDAM SANDROCK EW (ARMADILLO UNIT)” equips Quatre Raberba Winner’s Mobile Suit with the additional armor and mobility equipment introduced in New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz – Glory of the Losers.
The Armadillo Unit represents a substantial change from the standard Sandrock EW, surrounding much of the upper body with extra armor while adding large shield boosters over both shoulders.
Additional thrusters are built into the shoulder equipment and expanded backpack to support the added weight, giving the finished Gunpla a much bulkier appearance while preserving Sandrock’s close-range fighting style.
The large shoulder sections can be repositioned to provide more freedom when posing, while the additional armor can also be removed for fans who want to display Sandrock in a configuration closer to its standard appearance.
Sandrock’s twin Heat Shotels remain the main weapons, maintaining the curved blades that have defined Quatre’s Gundam since Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, while a Beam Machine Gun provides a ranged option alongside the Armadillo equipment.
Water-slide decals designed by Hajime Katoki are also included, allowing additional markings to be applied across Sandrock and its expanded armor.
The Armadillo Unit is one of several exclusive Sandrock releases to receive new US availability during 2026, with the MG Gundam Sandrock Custom EW and newer missile-heavy Armadillo Lizard version also receiving US re-releases during August.
That wider Gundam Wing wave also included the return of the MG Gundam Heavyarms Custom EW and both Master Grade and Real Grade versions of Tallgeese III, giving fans several options for expanding an Endless Waltz-focused Gunpla collection.
Sandrock has also continued to appear outside Gunpla during Gundam Wing’s 2026 merchandise releases, with Sandrock Custom recently included alongside Wing Zero, Deathscythe Hell, Heavyarms Custom and Altron Gundam in a new and exclusive pin badge collection.
