Nintendo raises Switch prices in the US following increase in import tariffs

Nintendo of America has announced that it will be increasing the price of the original Nintendo Switch family of systems and select accessories, citing “market conditions.”
The price changes are scheduled to go into effect on Sunday, the 3rd of August, 2025.

This move follows a similar price adjustment that recently occurred in Canada.
The price hike comes in the wake of newly imposed United States tariffs on a wide range of consumer goods, including video game consoles manufactured in China, where the Switch is assembled.
While Nintendo’s official statement did not directly mention the tariffs, the timing of the increase strongly suggests that the new import taxes are a key factor in the updated pricing.

The price adjustment will affect all three models of the original Nintendo Switch hardware.
The new suggested retail prices have already been reflected at some retailers, such as Target.
The Switch OLED Model will see its price increase from $349.99 to $399.99.

The standard Nintendo Switch will go from $299.99 to $339.99.

The handheld-only Switch Lite model will increase from $199.99 to $229.99.

Select accessories for the Switch and Switch 2 will also see a price increase.
A pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, for example, will now be priced at $99.99.

The company has confirmed that the pricing for the new Nintendo Switch 2 console, as well as software for both systems and Nintendo Switch Online memberships, will not be affected by this change.
This price adjustment is a significant change, as the original Switch has maintained its launch price point for much of its lifecycle.
