Bandai Announces Massive GUNDAM-Con 50th Anniversary Event for 2027

Bandai Namco has officially revealed a massive celebratory event for the legendary Mobile Suit Gundam franchise to honor its upcoming fiftieth anniversary.
The newly announced fan gathering is officially titled “GUNDAM-Con” and will serve as a major pillar of the ongoing anniversary roadmap.

The core concept behind this ambitious project is to create an engaging experience that is built directly alongside the passionate community.
Organizers intend for this inaugural gathering in Japan to serve as a launchpad, with plans already in place to host subsequent events in various locations across the globe.

Attendees can look forward to special appearances and panels featuring the talented creators who have helped shape the sci-fi universe over the decades.
“GUNDAM-Con” is set to feature deep-dive exhibitions and immersive experience corners designed to allow visitors to enjoy the extensive history of the property.

In a massive shift for the community, Bandai Namco will also be consolidating its various global competitions into this single convention.
The highly competitive world championships for plastic models, trading cards, and video games will all be hosted simultaneously within the convention walls.

Consolidating these tournaments will allow fans of every different merchandise category to celebrate their shared passion under one roof.
This massive fan gathering was revealed during a recent digital conference that also unveiled twelve fully rendered hololive VTuber crossover designs that are expected to become orderable Gunpla model kits.

The broadcast also established April 7 as the official “Gundam Day” to permanently honor the original 1979 anime premiere alongside a new fiftieth-anniversary short anime video titled “A Boy with Gundam”.

Bandai Namco utilized the stream to announce a monumental restoration project to fully remaster the original broadcast anime for modern audiences.
Viewers were also treated to the thrilling reveal that the highly anticipated “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO” prequel project will be a full theatrical release.

Followers of the alternate century timeline received confirmation that a mysterious new “Mobile Suit Gundam Wing” screen project is actively in development.

The digital presentation included the bittersweet confirmation that the towering life-size “Unicorn Gundam” statue will permanently end its public display at the end of August 2026.

The inaugural “GUNDAM-Con” celebration is currently scheduled to take place at the Makuhari Messe inside International Exhibition Halls 10 and 11.
The massive weekend event will run from Saturday, January 9, through Monday, January 11, 2027.

Access to the venue will require a paid admission ticket, and sales will be handled exclusively through an advance lottery system, with more details to be announced in due course.
