Komekami! Girls Anime Adaptation Launches April 2

Fukuoka Prefecture is set to expand its local marketing efforts into the world of animation with the upcoming premiere of the Komekami! Girls anime series on April 2, 2026.

The project originated in 2011 as a unique promotional campaign for the Koshino Nana Komekami! rice collection, which featured seven different rice bags adorned with unique anime girl mascots.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Japanese legend that seven deities reside within every single grain of rice, the story follows seven sisters who are the daughters of the Rice Goddess.

The story will track these sisters as they journey across the island of Kyushu to resolve various local issues while exploring the region’s diverse culinary offerings.

The voice cast features Eriko Kawakami as Sanae Koshino, Minori Toyonaga as Minori Koshino, Kurumi Yano as Mei Koshino, and Emi Nitta as Hikari Koshino.

Tochi Ueyama, the acclaimed creator of Cooking Papa, has joined the production as the cuisine supervisor to ensure the regional dishes are depicted with accuracy.
