Halo: Campaign Evolved Arrives This July with Brand-New Story Missions

Halo Campaign Evolved 2

Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios have confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved, a complete remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.

The game was recently featured during the Xbox Games Showcase, where a new trailer highlighted one of the remake’s major additions, a brand-new campaign chapter known as Operation: METEORITE.

Included with every version of the game, Operation: METEORITE introduces a three-mission storyline set one year before the events of the original Halo adventure.

The new narrative follows Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson as they undertake a secret UNSC mission aboard a Covenant research vessel deep behind enemy lines.

What begins as a straightforward operation gradually develops into a far more dangerous situation as the team uncovers unexpected threats.

While the core experience recreates the original 10-mission Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, the additional storyline expands the setting with new environments, fresh enemy types, extra weapons drawn from across the Halo franchise, and additional gameplay possibilities within the series’ sandbox systems.

Players will also spend more time with familiar characters while witnessing previously unseen events that further develop Halo’s established lore.

Footage shown in the latest trailer features combat alongside UNSC troops, battles through Covenant-controlled locations, encounters with new enemies such as the Brute Berserker, and even engagements taking place in outer space.

The storyline for Operation: METEORITE was created in collaboration with acclaimed science-fiction author Troy Denning, whose previous Halo novels have helped shape significant portions of the franchise’s expanded universe.

According to the developers, Denning’s involvement helped ensure the new missions maintained the military science-fiction atmosphere, tone, and narrative stakes expected by long-time Halo fans.

Pre-orders are now available across Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation storefronts, with every edition including both the remade original campaign and the new Operation: METEORITE content.

Players who pre-order any version will receive the Foundry Armory Pack, which contains the Classic 2001 Mark V Armor skin, Classic 2001 Assault Rifle skin, Gilded Onyx Armor style, and Gilded Onyx Assault Rifle style.

The Standard Edition includes the complete game with all 10 remade campaign missions alongside the new three-mission expansion and is priced at $49.99 USD (approx. $49.99 USD/ £49.99 GBP).

The Premium Edition is available for $69.99 USD (approx. $69.99 USD/ £69.99 GBP) and adds up to five days of early access beginning July 23, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, and the Digital Story & Art Collection.

The Alpha Halo Armory Pack contains five armor skins for Master Chief and six weapon skins.

The Digital Story & Art Collection includes Halo: Hungry Buzzards, a new digital short story written by Troy Denning that serves as a lead-in to Operation: METEORITE, alongside a digital art book and a digital recreation of the original 2001 game manual.

A Collector’s Edition is also planned at $199.99 USD (approx. $199.99 USD/ £149.99 GBP), bundling all Premium Edition content with a 30.48 cm Dark Horse Master Chief statue, an illuminated LED Cortana chip, a Steelbook case, three concept art prints, a physical version of the redesigned game manual, and a physical game disc for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 owners, while the Steam version includes a download code instead.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled for worldwide release on July 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PDT, with players in Japan and certain Asia-Pacific territories gaining access on July 29, while Premium Edition owners can begin playing through early access on July 23, 2026, with availability beginning July 24 in those same regions.
