Gundam Hathaway’s New Official Mafty Watch Hides a Glowing Xi Gundam Reference
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai has revealed a new wristwatch inspired by Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, combining the Mafty resistance group’s emblem with a subtle reference to Hathaway Noa’s Xi Gundam.
The watch takes a relatively understated approach to Gundam merchandise, with much of its connection to the movie hidden within details on the dial rather than relying on large character or mobile suit artwork.
Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is the second movie in the planned trilogy adapting Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Hathaway’s Flash novels, continuing a Universal Century story set after the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
Released in Japanese theaters on January 30, 2026, the sequel continues the intersecting stories of Hathaway Noa, mysterious young woman Gigi Andalucia, and Earth Federation officer Kenneth Sleg as the anti-Federation Mafty organization pushes forward with its campaign.
The movie surpassed ¥2.24 billion at the Japanese box office and attracted more than 1.34 million viewers during its first 29 days, building upon the success of the trilogy’s first installment from 2021.
Bandai’s new Mafty Mark Wristwatch uses a black dial and matching leather strap, with the organization’s white emblem positioned prominently beneath the hands and restrained markings keeping the overall appearance suitable for everyday wear.
The Xi Gundam is linked back to the RX-93 Nu Gundam piloted by Hathaway’s father Bright Noa’s longtime ally Amuro Ray in Char’s Counterattack by way of the Greek alphabet, where Xi follows Nu, effectively marking the new Gundam as its spiritual successor.
One of its more interesting details appears at the 11 o’clock position, represented by the Roman numeral XI, which has received a glow-in-the-dark unique hour marker in reference to Hathaway’s Xi Gundam.
Both the XI marking and Mafty emblem use luminous material, causing them to glow in darkness and making the reference far more visible once the surrounding light disappears.
The case, caseback, crown and buckle are made from stainless steel, while the dial and hands use brass alongside a mineral glass crystal and genuine cowhide leather strap.
Inside is a Japanese-made Miyota 2035 quartz movement, while the caseback carries additional Gundam Hathaway branding and the watch comes presented inside a dedicated box with an outer sleeve.
The Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe Mafty Mark Wristwatch is priced at ¥24,200 (approx. $154 USD / £114 GBP) and is currently available to pre-order through Premium Bandai in Japan until August 31, 2026.
Orders are scheduled to begin shipping during September 2026.
