The Summer Hikaru Died is a “youth horror” story based on the award-winning manga by Mokumokuren.

The series follows a high school student named Yoshiki, whose childhood friend Hikaru has been replaced by a mysterious, inhuman entity that has taken on his form.

The original manga is a massive success, with over 3.5 million copies in circulation, and it was the number one ranked manga for male readers in the 2023 edition of the “Kono Manga ga Sugoi!” guidebook.

The anime adaptation, which is currently airing, is being produced by the studio CygamesPictures.

This new exhibition is being held to commemorate the anime’s broadcast.

Visitors will also be able to see a display of rare, behind-the-scenes production materials, including “settei” or model sheets, and high-quality replicas of key animation frames.

A shop at the venue will sell a wide range of exclusive, original merchandise that will feature new, original illustrations created for the event.

To celebrate the announcement, a promotional campaign is being held on the exhibition’s official X account.
