Square Enix has announced the immediate digital launch of Final Fantasy XVI for Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC via the Microsoft Store.

The highly acclaimed action RPG is available for $49.99, with a free demo also accessible for Xbox Series X|S users, allowing players to experience the game’s opening before purchase.

Final Fantasy XVI is the latest mainline entry in Square Enix’s enduring Final Fantasy series, a franchise globally celebrated for its rich narratives, evolving combat systems, and iconic characters that have defined the RPG genre for decades.

Unlike previous titles, Final Fantasy XVI adopted a more action-oriented combat approach, drawing critical praise for its intense Eikon (Summon) clashes and mature storytelling.

The game initially launched exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023, and subsequently arrived on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 17, 2024.

The Xbox Series and Microsoft Store release of Final Fantasy XVI comes as the Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition, offering a comprehensive package for new players.

This edition includes the base game along with its two downloadable content chapters, “Echoes of the Fallen” and “The Rising Tide,” at a discounted price.

Echoes of the Fallen DLC

Players also have the option to purchase the standalone base game, individual DLC chapters, or the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass separately.

A significant benefit for Xbox players is the support for Xbox Play Anywhere. This feature enables full cross-entitlement and cross-save functionality across console, PC, or cloud, providing unprecedented flexibility for how players experience Clive Rosfield’s quest for revenge.

This means players can seamlessly switch between their Xbox console and PC, continuing their progress on either platform.

Purchasing any edition of the game will grant players several in-game bonus items, including the Blood Sword, Braveheart Sword, Brave Blade, Cait Sith’s Charm, and the Sixteen Bells Orchestrion, providing a head start on their journey through Valisthea.

The free demo for Xbox Series X|S allows prospective players to dive into the beginning of Clive’s epic tale, offering a glimpse into his motivations and the early conflicts that define his quest.

Save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game upon purchase.

A new trailer showcasing the game’s arrival on Xbox platforms has also been released.
