Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Remaster Head to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026

Square Enix has confirmed release plans for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on Nintendo Switch 2, with pre-orders opening on June 9.
The collection combines Final Fantasy X and its direct sequel Final Fantasy X-2 into a single package, presenting both titles with enhanced high-definition visuals.

Originally launched in 2001, Final Fantasy X became one of the most celebrated entries in the long-running RPG franchise and introduced players to the world of Spira.

The story follows the journey of Tidus, a young athlete transported to an unfamiliar world, and Yuna, a summoner carrying the burden of a pilgrimage that will determine the fate of her people.

Their emotional adventure remains one of the most memorable narratives in the series and returns on Nintendo Switch 2 with updated presentation and modernized features.

Players will have access to a variety of gameplay enhancement options designed to accommodate different playstyles.

These features include the ability to adjust game speed, strengthen characters more efficiently, and modify encounter rates, allowing users to either streamline progression through the story or spend additional time exploring and completing optional content.

The release also coincides with the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy X, marking a quarter-century since the game’s original debut.

To commemorate the milestone, a limited-time special sleeve featuring artwork based on the Final Fantasy X 25th Anniversary logo will be included with physical copies.

Additional retailer-specific bonuses are planned, including a digital wallpaper through the Square Enix e-STORE and an original sticker offered through Amazon.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will launch digitally on July 23, 2026, for 6,688 yen (approx. $46 USD/ £34 GBP), while the physical edition is scheduled to follow on August 27, 2026, at a price of 7,480 yen (approx. $51 USD/ £38 GBP).
