Square Enix Announces Huge New Kingdom Hearts 25th Anniversary Exhibition
Image by James RichardsonKingdom Hearts is preparing to celebrate 25 years of Sora’s adventures with a major new exhibition in Tokyo, bringing together Keyblade replicas, recreations of memorable scenes, original development materials and artwork alongside an immersive theater experience.
The “KINGDOM HEARTS 25th ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION” will open at the Mori Arts Center Gallery on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in February 2027, just weeks before the series officially reaches its quarter-century milestone in March.
Rather than focusing on a single game, the exhibition has been designed as a journey through the wider Kingdom Hearts story, allowing fans to revisit Sora and his friends’ adventures from the original Kingdom Hearts through Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts III alongside the numerous spin-offs that have helped build its increasingly expansive story.
Some of the biggest attractions announced so far include photo spots recreating memorable scenes from the games and displays of replica Keyblades, offering fans considerably more to see than a traditional collection of artwork and development materials.
Original reference materials and other exhibits connected to the series are also planned, while an immersive theater will add a more experiential element intended to bring parts of Sora’s journey to life inside the venue.
Naturally, there will also be a new range of merchandise created specifically for the exhibition, although the full contents of this will be revealed closer to the start date.
The Kingdom Hearts franchise is currently entering one of its busiest periods in years ahead of both its anniversary and the eventual arrival of Kingdom Hearts IV.
Square Enix and Disney recently confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV is targeting a late 2027 release, with a new trailer revealing that Pixar’s Coco will provide the first officially announced Disney world for Sora’s next mainline adventure.
The new game will begin the Lost Master Arc and return to Quadratum, the realistic city first shown when Kingdom Hearts IV was announced in 2022, with Sora once again joined by familiar characters including Donald, Goofy and Strelitzia.
Kingdom Hearts IV has also been confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, giving the next entry a much broader simultaneous launch than previous mainline games in the series.
The approaching anniversary is expanding beyond the games as well, with Disney recently confirming that an original Kingdom Hearts anime series has officially been greenlit for Disney Channel and Disney+, although its story, animation studio, cast and release timing have not yet been announced.
Fans will have another opportunity to revisit Sora’s earlier adventures before the exhibition opens through Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III], which brings HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind together for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 8, 2026.
The “KINGDOM HEARTS 25th ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION” will run at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills from February 5 through April 4, 2027, giving fans around two months to visit during the period surrounding the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
Advance ticket sales are scheduled to begin on October 8, 2026, with additional information covering tickets, exhibits and the exclusive merchandise expected to be revealed closer to the event.
