Square Enix Announces Kingdom Hearts [I ~ III] Collection for PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2
Square Enix has revealed Kingdom Hearts Collection [I ~ III], a comprehensive package that will bring much of the long-running action RPG franchise to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The collection combines Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind into a single release while also allowing each title to be purchased separately.
A playable demo of Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind is already available for Nintendo Switch 2 users through the Nintendo eShop.
Existing versions of these games are currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, while Nintendo Switch owners previously had access through cloud-based editions.
Square Enix has also confirmed that the PC versions will launch on the Microsoft Store alongside the arrival of the new collection.
Together, the included releases cover the complete Dark Seeker Saga, charting Sora’s story from his early life on Destiny Islands through his partnership with Donald Duck and Goofy and ultimately to the climactic struggle against the forces of darkness.
Kingdom Hearts is a crossover franchise that blends Disney and Pixar characters and worlds with figures from the Final Fantasy series, while also introducing a large cast of original characters and storylines created under the direction of Tetsuya Nomura.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX contains six separate experiences, including four full games and two cinematic story presentations.
The compilation includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, a remastered version of the original adventure featuring updated visuals, revised controls, and an enhanced soundtrack that introduces players to Sora’s journey.
Also included is Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, which continues the story as Sora, Donald, and Goofy enter the mysterious Castle Oblivion and encounter events tied to memory and identity.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is represented through high-definition remastered cinematics that focus on Roxas and his unique connection to Sora, with additional text included to expand the narrative.
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix returns players to Sora’s adventures across a wide range of Disney-inspired worlds while continuing the series’ central storyline.
The prequel Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix shifts attention to Terra, Ventus, and Aqua, exploring events that take place before Sora becomes a Keyblade wielder.
Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded is also included in cinematic form, following Data Sora’s investigation into a mysterious message hidden within a digital world.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue brings together three experiences that focus on major characters and set the stage for the saga’s conclusion.
Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD follows Sora and Riku as they undertake the Mark of Mastery examination in pursuit of becoming true Keyblade Masters.
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage- centers on Aqua and continues directly from the ending of Birth by Sleep, serving as a bridge into Kingdom Hearts III.
The package also includes Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, a high-definition movie that explores the Foretellers and events set even earlier in the series timeline.
Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind presents the final chapter of the Dark Seeker Saga as the Guardians of Light gather for a decisive confrontation against their enemies.
Before that climactic battle unfolds, players travel through a variety of Disney and Pixar worlds, joining characters such as Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Rapunzel, and Baymax in a range of adventures.
The included Re Mind expansion adds new story sequences, challenging boss encounters, gameplay modifiers, photo gallery features, and other bonus content.
Visual improvements have been made to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX through updated texture work, while players who purchase Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind or the Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece bundle will receive the platform-exclusive Dead of Night Keyblade.
Kingdom Hearts Collection [I ~ III] is scheduled to launch on October 8, with individual pricing yet to be detailed for all regions at the time of the announcement.
