Naruto Officially Returns to the Kazekage Rescue Arc for Nostalgic New Release

Bandai has fully unveiled a detailed new Naruto figure that recreates one of the series’ most popular arcs, ahead of the imminent start of pre-orders.
The new “Figuarts ZERO Naruto Uzumaki -NARUTO 72 series- 29” recreates the artwork from Volume 29 of Masashi Kishimoto’s manga, placing Naruto in the foreground with Gaara incorporated into a relief-style background.

Naruto began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 and eventually ran for 72 collected volumes, with its individual covers providing some of the most recognizable artwork from across the series’ long history.

Bandai’s “-NARUTO 72 series-” revisits those illustrations through new figures and statues, as well as other collectibles, giving artwork from the complete 72-volume manga run another chance to appear outside the original books.
The Figuarts ZERO line previously saw the release of a Naruto figure based on the Volume 1 artwork in 2025, making the newly revealed Volume 29 release another opportunity to see one of the manga’s covers recreated as a three-dimensional display piece.

Volume 29 moves the story into the Kazekage Rescue Arc, following Naruto and his allies as they pursue Akatsuki following Gaara’s capture.

That relationship between Naruto and Gaara becomes the main focus of the new figure, with Naruto captured in a forward-moving jump while Gaara appears behind him as part of the scenery.

With the overall figure standing at around 19 cm tall, Naruto is posed in mid-air with a kunai in hand, using a discreet black support to recreate the movement of the original illustration.

Gaara is recreated in a relief style behind Naruto, using sculpted textures and detailed painting to add depth intended to retain the layered composition of the original Volume 29 cover.

The combination of layered effects perfectly captures the original illustration, with the overall composition creating a more interesting display than standard anime figures that often just use basic block colored bases and supports.

Bandai has also added the “-NARUTO 72 series-” logo to the rear, tying in directly to the wider project and making it a natural companion to the earlier Volume 1 Figuarts ZERO figure.

The “Figuarts ZERO Naruto Uzumaki -NARUTO 72 series- 29” is priced at ¥11,000 (approx. $69 USD / £51 GBP), with pre-orders opening through retailers such as HobbyLink Japan from September 1 at 4:00 PM JST.
Shipping is currently scheduled for March 2027.
