Capcom to Reveal Okami 20th Anniversary Project on April 20

Capcom has confirmed that a massive celebration is currently in development to honor the monumental 20th anniversary of the classic action-adventure game Okami.
The exciting update was shared with fans via the official Okami series X account on April 5:
The social media post confirmed that the production team is preparing a new project to mark two decades since the original release.
The critically acclaimed title will officially reach its massive 20-year milestone on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Okami originally launched in 2006 and immediately captured the hearts of players with its unique art direction and engaging gameplay loop.
The beautiful visual style utilizes a unique shading technique to perfectly mimic the look of traditional Japanese ink wash paintings.

Players take control of the sun goddess Amaterasu, who has taken the physical form of a white wolf, to restore life to a ruined world.
The action heavily features a mechanic called the Celestial Brush, allowing players to pause the screen and paint directly onto the environment.

Using this magical brush, players can perform various miracles to defeat enemies and solve complex environmental puzzles.
This creative mechanic, combined with a heartwarming story, helped cement the title as a beloved classic among fans worldwide.

This anniversary tease offers fans hope that the currently dormant franchise could soon be set to return, as during The Game Awards 2024, Capcom announced that a completely new Okami project had entered production:
Details have been scarce since the announcement, but original creator Hideki Kamiya was officially confirmed to be returning to direct this brand-new entry in the series.

Fans will need to wait until April 20 to see exactly what the development team has planned for the official anniversary date.
