Bandai Reveals 3 New ZZ Gundam 40th Anniversary Premium Figures

Bandai has officially revealed a major wave of premium Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ collectibles for the anime’s 40th anniversary, with three Mobile Suit figures and a matching expansion set arriving throughout early 2027.

The newly revealed TAMASHII NATIONS lineup consists of the first “ROBOT SPIRITS Quin Mantha,” a “METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Enhanced ZZ Gundam” and an extensively updated “THE ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Geymalk [Re: Coordinate]”, while a separate “Full Armor Parts Set” will allow the Enhanced ZZ Gundam to be converted into its heavily armed final form.

The announcement finally puts names to the anniversary project Bandai began teasing on September 5, when a simple Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ x TAMASHII NATIONS image promised a new range of premium figures without revealing which Mobile Suits had been selected.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ originally aired in 1986 as the direct sequel to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, following teenage junk dealer Judau Ashta as he becomes involved with the Argama and ultimately pilots the powerful transformable ZZ Gundam against Haman Karn’s Neo Zeon forces.

Bandai has increasingly returned to the series during its anniversary year, with recent announcements including the long-awaited HG Hamma-Hamma Gunpla alongside new apparel and an upcoming Gundam Card Game expansion featuring Gundam ZZ.

The most ambitious of the three newly announced figures could ultimately be the ROBOT SPIRITS Quin Mantha ~Marking Plus~, which gives Ple-Two’s enormous Neo Zeon Mobile Suit its first release in the ROBOT SPIRITS line.

Quin Mantha appears late in Gundam ZZ during Glemy Toto’s rebellion against Haman Karn, combining technology derived from the Psycho Gundam Mk-II with Neo Zeon’s own Psycommu development to create a machine measuring around 40 meters tall in the series.

Its armament includes nine Mega Particle Cannons and 30 Funnels distributed across the Mobile Suit, giving Ple-Two the ability to attack numerous targets simultaneously through the Psycommu system.

Only partial prototype images have been shown so far, but the figure already reveals an anime-inspired green and white finish accompanied by extensive panel detailing and printed markings across the armor.

Its physical dimensions remain under wraps, which is particularly interesting given that Bandai will need to represent a Mobile Suit that stands close to twice the height of many conventional machines within the ROBOT SPIRITS format.

ROBOT SPIRITS Quin Mantha ~Marking Plus~ is scheduled for release in March 2027, with further product details due when pre-orders begin on September 18.

Geymalk takes a different route, with the new ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Geymalk [Re: Coordinate] revisiting a figure originally released in 2014 rather than creating the Mobile Suit from scratch.

Hajime Katoki once again supervises the approximately 15.5 cm figure, but Bandai has revised its coloring to move the armor away from the brighter red of the previous release and closer to the reddish-orange appearance associated with Chara Soon’s machine in the anime.

Purple sections around the chest and legs have been changed to a deeper blue, darker red accents appear around the extremities, and the markings have been refreshed across the body.

Those markings are now printed directly onto the figure rather than relying on the water-slide decals supplied with the earlier release, making the updated decoration one of the biggest differences between the two versions.

The original sculpt remains intact, including interchangeable mono-eye pieces, opening foot claws, and movable calf-mounted Mega Beam Cannons, while the rear Mother Funnels can be removed for all-range attack displays.

Geymalk also includes its Child Funnels, giving collectors the equipment needed to recreate the heavily armed Psycommu Mobile Suit used by Chara Soon during the final battles of the First Neo Zeon War.

ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Geymalk [Re] is priced at ¥17,600 (approximately $114 / £85) and is scheduled to ship in February 2027.

The third figure puts Judau’s own Mobile Suit at the center of the anniversary range with the new METAL ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Enhanced ZZ Gundam.

Standing at approximately 15 cm, die-cast components are used throughout key areas of its internal structure, and largely new exterior parts are incorporated to recreate the enlarged armor, backpack, and thrusters that separate the Enhanced ZZ from the standard machine.

Despite the added complexity, the figure retains the ZZ Gundam’s transformation and combination systems, allowing the Core Fighter, Core Top, and Core Base components to form the completed Mobile Suit before transforming again into G-Fortress mode.

Its weapons include the Double Beam Rifle, two Hyper Beam Sabers and the Head High Mega Cannon, while the enlarged backpack incorporates the 18-tube missile launchers associated with the upgraded configuration.

Hajime Katoki’s markings are printed across the finished figure, with brighter blue, yellow, and red sections breaking up the white armor and giving the release the cleaner appearance commonly associated with the Ka signature range.

The METAL ROBOT SPIRITS (Ka signature) Enhanced ZZ Gundam is priced at ¥26,400 (approximately $171 / £127) and is currently scheduled for an April 2027 release.

Bandai is taking the transformation one stage further with a separately sold Full Armor Parts Set created specifically for the Enhanced ZZ Gundam.

Attaching the additional armor and equipment converts the figure into Full Armor ZZ Gundam, recreating the heavily upgraded configuration developed to improve the ZZ’s protection, firepower and battlefield performance during the escalating conflict with Neo Zeon.

Only part of the equipped Full Armor ZZ Gundam has been shown so far, with Bandai saving the complete accessory contents and price for the full product reveal ahead of September 18 pre-orders.

The Full Armor Parts Set is scheduled to ship in April 2027 alongside the Enhanced ZZ Gundam, allowing buyers to assemble the completed configuration without waiting for a later expansion.

Japanese pre-orders for the Enhanced ZZ Gundam and Geymalk [Re] open through Premium Bandai Japan on September 11 at 4:00 PM JST, while Quin Mantha and the Full Armor Parts Set follow on September 18.

All four anniversary releases are expected to be available through Premium Bandai US, although American listings can take several days to appear following their Japanese counterparts.
