Evangelion’s Official Workwear Collection Adds New EVA-01 and EVA-00 Safety Shoes

The new “MANDOM × A.T.FIELD TG004-E” safety sneakers are available in Unit-01 Purple and Unit-00 Yellow versions, introducing a dial-operated fastening system as part of Evangelion’s latest collaboration with Japanese footwear manufacturer Marugo.

Originally released in 1995, Neon Genesis Evangelion follows teenager Shinji Ikari and the pilots of the giant Evangelion units as they battle mysterious enemies known as Angels, becoming one of the most influential anime series of its era.

The franchise’s mechanical designs have since inspired countless merchandise collaborations, with its official A.T.FIELD EVANGELION WORK brand adapting the protective themes of the series into functional workwear, tools, and other industrial equipment.

Developed in partnership with Marugo’s MANDOM footwear brand, the new sneakers mark the fourth collaboration between the two, following earlier releases that combined Evangelion-inspired colors with the protective features of conventional safety footwear.

The Unit-01 Purple version draws from the colors of Shinji Ikari’s Evangelion, while the Unit-00 Yellow design takes inspiration from Rei Ayanami’s machine, giving each pair its own appearance without sacrificing the functionality of the underlying work shoe.

One of the biggest changes for this release is the FREE LOCK FIT SYSTEM, which replaces conventional shoelaces with a rotating dial that tightens the shoes around the wearer’s feet.

The mechanism allows the fit to be adjusted quickly without tying or untying laces, making the sneakers easier to put on and remove while reducing the risk of loose laces becoming caught during work.

Marugo has also incorporated a separate Wire Adjuster mechanism, which uses a hook-and-loop strap to control tension closer to the toes, compensating for an area that can be difficult to tighten evenly with a dial alone.

This works alongside the high-rebound Fluffy Energy foam used in the midsoles, providing additional cushioning and helping reduce pressure on the feet during extended periods of standing or walking.

The sneakers also include slip-resistant rubber outsoles and protective resin toe caps, with the upper sections constructed from synthetic leather and textile materials to balance durability and comfort.

Each shoe weighs approximately 370 g in the 26 cm size, retaining the lightweight construction associated with Marugo’s MANDOM safety footwear.

The collaboration follows several other functional Evangelion clothing releases during 2026, including a new collection of A.T.FIELD cooling work jackets developed with COVELL for people working in hot conditions.

Evangelion has also recently launched an official performance running collection with TIGORA, featuring footwear and sportswear inspired by Unit-01, Unit-00 and Unit-02.
