Bandai opens orders for new model kit of Gundam GQuuuuuX’s RX-78-01
BANDAI SPIRITS has officially opened pre-orders for its latest High Grade (HG) plastic model kit based on the popular anime series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX.
The new HG 1/144 01 Gundam model kit recreates the RX-78-01, also known as the 01 Gundam, a prototype Mobile Suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces within the alternate Universal Century timeline of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX.
The anime, the latest in the long-running Gundam franchise, gained significant attention for its alternative take on the Gundam franchise’s original timeline.
As part of the renowned High Grade series, known for its balance of articulation, color separation, and accessibility, the new kit will feature a distinct black and white color scheme, accurately reproduced through color molding, minimizing the need for paint.
The HG (High Grade) line, first introduced in 1990, serves as the standard 1/144 scale for Bandai’s Gunpla offerings, making the 01 Gundam a readily buildable addition for both veteran hobbyists and newcomers.
A key detail for fans is the head, which is described as being “three-dimensionally sculpted with a new design.”
The model will also come equipped with its signature armaments, including beam sabers, a beam rifle, and a hyper bazooka, alongside multiple hand parts to allow builders to pose the mobile suit in a variety of dynamic, combat-ready stances.
This release follows other notable machines from the series, such as the HG 1/144 Red Gundam, further expanding the lineup of mobile suits from Gundam GQuuuuuX available to model kit enthusiasts.
The HG 1/144 01 Gundam will be priced at 2,420 yen and is scheduled to ship to customers in January 2026.
Reservations for the 1/144 scale model began on October 17th exclusively on the online shopping platform “Premium Bandai.”
