Bandai Announces Re-Release for Exclusive Gundam 08th MS Team and MS IGLOO Gunpla Set
Image by Charlotte DavisTwo of Gundam’s most memorable Ball variants are returning together, with pre-orders opening for a re-release of an exclusive HGUC set that combines machines from The 08th MS Team and MS IGLOO.
The “HGUC 1/144 Ball Type K (The 08th MS Team Ver.) & Ball (Shark Mouth Ver.)” includes one RB-79K Ball Type K and one RB-79 Ball carrying the aggressive shark-mouth markings seen during the One Year War.

The set originally made its Premium Bandai debut in February 2012, making the new production run another opportunity to pick up two Ball variants that have never received conventional general retail HGUC releases.

The first half of the set comes from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, where the orange RB-79K Ball Type K is piloted by Shiro Amada during the opening episode before he reaches Earth and takes command of the 08th Mobile Suit Team.

Despite the Ball normally being associated with mass-produced Federation support units, the K Type has several visible differences that give Shiro’s machine a more specialized appearance.

Bandai recreates its modified arms and boosters through dedicated parts, alongside the distinctive winch and headlights fitted around the body.

Its orange and white appearance is largely reproduced through the kit’s molded plastic colors, helping separate it immediately from the much more familiar white RB-79 Ball.

The second kit moves to Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO and recreates the Ball carrying the large shark-mouth marking seen during Episode 3.

That aggressive artwork wraps around the front of the otherwise relatively simple spherical body, turning one of the Federation’s most basic machines into a surprisingly memorable design.

Additional markings are also included based on the playing-card symbols seen on Balls during Episode 5 of MS IGLOO, giving builders another option when finishing the model.

The MS IGLOO version also receives dedicated parts for areas including the arms, cockpit window and boosters, reproducing the differences between its appearance and the standard HGUC Ball.

Both models come with their own dedicated display stands, allowing the two space-use machines to be posed together without requiring separate Action Bases.

The combination makes the set especially appealing for fans of Gundam’s more grounded One Year War stories, pairing Shiro’s short-lived first machine with one of the more visually memorable Federation units from MS IGLOO.

Japanese pre-orders for the “HGUC 1/144 Ball Type K (The 08th MS Team Ver.) & Ball (Shark Mouth Ver.),” priced at ¥1,980 (approx. $12 USD / £9 GBP), opened through Premium Bandai Japan on September 1, with the new production run scheduled to ship in January 2027.
Premium Bandai US has not yet listed the re-release, although Premium Bandai Gunpla often begin their US pre-orders a few days after the initial Japanese announcement, so it’s likely the exclusive kit will appear there shortly.
