Gundam’s new tabletop miniature game has officially launched worldwide, turning small Gunpla models into playable units for strategic battles spanning multiple eras of the franchise.

The new “GUNDAM ASSEMBLE” combines approximately 5 cm Gunpla miniatures with Unit Cards, Tactics Cards, dice, and battlefield terrain, allowing players to build and paint their own Mobile Suits before deploying them in squad-based combat.

Bandai first unveiled the project earlier this year as one of the first major releases under its new BANDAI TABLETOP GAMES initiative, which was created to combine its plastic-model expertise with competitive tabletop gaming.

GUNDAM ASSEMBLE miniatures have already appeared alongside special versions of the Gundam Card Game’s original Starter Decks, giving players an early opportunity to collect units that are fully compatible with the newly launched tabletop game.

Standard battles can begin with squads of three units against three, with players choosing movement and other actions before using 10-sided dice to determine whether attacks succeed.

Individual Mobile Suits receive abilities designed around their characteristics in the anime, while different scenarios allow players to recreate established Gundam conflicts or mix machines from completely separate timelines into original battles.

The main entry point is the “GUNDAM ASSEMBLE Starter Set 01 [ST01],” which includes six Mobile Suits drawn from three of Gundam’s best-known rivalries.

RX-78-2 Gundam faces Char’s Zaku II from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Wing Gundam Zero EW is paired against Gundam Epyon, and Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex is joined by Gundam Vidar from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.

All six miniatures arrive unpainted and require assembly, allowing players to recreate their established colors or develop completely original schemes before taking them into battle.

The Starter Set also contains 18 Tactics Cards, six Unit Cards, a game map, 10-sided dice, cardboard terrain, game tokens, a handbook and two quick-reference sheets, providing everything required to begin a standard 3v3 match.

Two three-unit Expansion Packs are launching alongside it for players looking to immediately broaden their available squads.

“Expansion Pack 01 [EX01]” focuses on Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn with Unicorn Gundam in Destroy Mode, Torohachi and Delta Plus, accompanied by three Unit Cards, nine Tactics Cards and the required game tokens.

Those first releases are only the beginning of a much larger planned rollout, with Bandai aiming to launch more than 30 GUNDAM ASSEMBLE products across international markets during the game’s first year.

Bandai is supporting the game beyond its physical releases through a series of official store events, beginning with beginner-focused “Learn to Play” sessions before “Friendly Battle” events introduce more casual organized matches and strategy sharing.

Competitive play will follow through the “Challenger Cup” from January 2027, with Bandai’s dedicated TABLETOP GAMES platform handling event searches, tournament registration and player match records.
