Starbucks Coffee Japan has announced two new seasonal lattes to welcome the autumn season, with one brand new creation and one returning fan-favorite.

The new drink is the “Hojicha Scented Yakiimo Mousse Tea Latte,” a beverage that combines two classic, roasted Japanese autumn flavors.

“Yakiimo,” or roasted sweet potato, is a traditional autumn and winter snack in Japan, and “hojicha” is a popular style of roasted green tea known for its nutty, fragrant aroma.

The new iced beverage features a base of hojicha and milk, blended with a smooth roasted sweet potato sauce that contains small chunks of sweet potato for a satisfying texture.

The drink is then topped with a fluffy and “mochi-like” roasted sweet potato-flavored mousse and a dusting of roasted sweet potato powder.

The result is a layered tea experience that blends the gentle sweetness of the roasted sweet potato with the fragrant aroma of the hojicha.

Returning alongside this new creation is the “Chocolate Mousse Latte,” a popular drink from the previous two autumn seasons.
