Gundam’s Earth Federation and Zeon Inspire New Official Military-Style Flight Jacket Collection
Image by Charlotte DavisBandai has officially revealed two new Gundam flight jackets inspired by the rival military forces of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime.
The new “STRICT-G.ARMS Mobile Suit Gundam CWU-36P” collection features designs based on the Earth Federation Space Force and the Principality of Zeon, combining classic military flight jacket styling with emblems from the Gundam universe.

Mobile Suit Gundam first aired in 1979 and follows the conflict between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon during the devastating One Year War.

The original anime introduced Amuro Ray and his experimental RX-78-2 Gundam, alongside Char Aznable and the Mobile Suits used by Zeon’s military forces.

STRICT-G is Bandai’s official Gundam fashion label, producing clothing and accessories inspired by the franchise’s characters, Mobile Suits, and military organizations.

Its STRICT-G.ARMS collection takes a slightly different approach by imagining the Universal Century as real military history, creating clothing that could plausibly have been worn by soldiers serving in the Gundam universe.

The two new jackets follow the CWU-36P flight jacket design, with separate color schemes and embroidered patches representing the opposing factions.

The Earth Federation Space Force version features a dark navy exterior with a rectangular E.F.S.F. insignia on the left chest, incorporating red, yellow, and green detailing.

Its sleeves feature additional military-style patches, including an orange-and-white White Base emblem and a geometric Earth Federation insignia, giving the jacket the appearance of official Federation flight crew clothing.

The Zeon version instead uses a sage green body with a black-and-gold “Zeon Forces” patch on the chest, alongside additional embroidered military insignia on both sleeves.

Red and gold detailing contrasts with the subdued green exterior, reflecting the Principality of Zeon’s military identity without relying on the brighter colors commonly associated with individual Mobile Suits.

Both designs retain the classic CWU-36P silhouette, with a large fold-down collar, zippered front, angled flap pockets, and a utility pocket on the sleeve.

Rather than adapting the shape for modern fashion, Bandai has retained the proportions of older military flight jackets, including the deep action pleats on the back that provide additional room for movement.

The jackets use a specially developed nylon fabric with a pronounced weave intended to reproduce the texture of Nomex, a material commonly associated with military flight clothing.

Each design features a 100% nylon outer shell, polyester lining, and ribbed sections made from a blend of acrylic and polyurethane, with the construction intended to balance classic military styling with everyday wear.

STRICT-G has introduced several other Gundam-inspired military jackets during 2026, including a new collection of lightweight ripstop jackets based on Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

That collection features four designs representing Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, the Earth Alliance and Z.A.F.T., with faction-specific graphics and embroidery incorporated into lightweight military-inspired outerwear.

Bandai also recently confirmed an official US release for its redesigned Amuro Ray and Char Aznable flight jackets, produced in collaboration with American military clothing manufacturer ALPHA INDUSTRIES.

Those jackets are based on the LIGHT MA-1 design and feature patches, embroidered insignia, and contrasting interior details inspired by the two pilots’ appearances in Char’s Counterattack.

The new “STRICT-G.ARMS Mobile Suit Gundam CWU-36P” jackets are available in medium, large, XL, and XXL sizes, with both designs priced at ¥22,000 (approximately $140 / £105) each.
Pre-orders officially opened on October 16, 2026, through the STRICT-G Online Store on Premium Bandai Japan and will remain available until October 25, with orders scheduled to ship in November.

The Earth Federation Space Force and Zeon Forces designs will also go on sale at participating STRICT-G stores across Japan from October 24, including locations in Tokyo Odaiba, Tokyo Solamachi, Shizuoka and Shiga.
Bandai has not yet confirmed an official US release, however, most STRICT-G collections eventually appear through Premium Bandai US, so it’s worth checking back regularly to avoid missing out.
