Though I Am An Inept Villainess Anime Trailer Teases New Drama

A new trailer for the anime adaptation of Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court has been released, offering a deeper look at the upcoming series.
The series is being produced by the animation studio Doga Kobo and is officially scheduled to premiere in July 2026.

This latest promotional video introduces four additional cast members, including Makoto Furukawa as Ei Gyoumei and Yuichiro Umehara as Shin-u.
Hana Hishikawa will provide the voice for Lee Lee, while Farahnaz Nikray joins the production as Kou Tousetsu.

The directing duties are being handled by Mitsue Yamazaki, who recently worked on ZENSHU, with Yoshiko Nakamura managing the series composition.
Ai Kikuchi is responsible for the character designs, bringing the visual style of the original light novels to the screen.
The story is set in the Kingdom of Ei, where five clans compete to have their maidens selected as the imperial consort.

The plot follows Kou Reirin, a beautiful maiden who has her body stolen by a jealous rival named Shu Keigetsu.
Despite being trapped in a new body and facing the threat of execution, Reirin uses her newfound physical robustness to navigate the dangers of the court.
Seven Seas Entertainment currently handles the English distribution for both the original light novel series and the manga adaptation illustrated by Ei Ohitsuji.
