STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT Super Limited Edition Revealed as August Release Date Confirmed
The remake of the classic visual novel STEINS;GATE has officially been given a release date, with developer MAGES. also revealing the contents of a Super Limited Edition of the upcoming game.
Originally released in 2009, the original game has sold over four million copies worldwide and spawned a massive franchise which also included a hugely popular anime series.
“STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT” will introduce a complete overhaul of the original experience, adding a refined user interface alongside entirely new story content and endings.
Character designer huke has updated the cast with modern clothing and accessories, while the iconic setting of Akihabara has been meticulously reconstructed with photo-like precision using reference materials from 2009.
To bring the world to life, the development team implemented the next-generation E-mote animation tool to allow character portraits to move expressively on the screen with natural breathing and facial changes.
The event illustrations have been doubled compared to the original Xbox 360 release, while the background graphics have seen a significant increase in quality.
Composer Takeshi Abo has fully remade the in-game background music, and all character voice lines have been completely re-recorded.
Kanako Ito returns to perform the classic opening theme “Sky Clad Observer,” which is featured in a newly published introductory trailer on YouTube.
The game will be available across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in multiple editions:

Contains all Limited Edition items alongside a high-definition framed illustration and a complete soundtrack set covering seven titles.
Physical pre-orders are scheduled to open on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM JST.
