Maomao Meets Hello Kitty as Sanrio Reveals New The Apothecary Diaries Collab Collection

A new collaboration between The Apothecary Diaries and Sanrio has been announced, pairing some of the anime’s most popular characters with a selection of Sanrio’s well-known mascots for an exclusive collection of merchandise.

The “Sanrio x The Apothecary Diaries” collection will include a variety of items featuring newly illustrated artwork created specifically for this collaboration.

The Apothecary Diaries has risen in popularity in recent years, with its story centering on Maomao, a clever apothecary whose expertise in medicine and toxins leads her into the complex politics of an imperial court.

Blending mystery elements with historical storytelling and strong character development, the series has gained a wide global following through both its anime adaptation and original light novels.

The “Sanrio x The Apothecary Diaries” collab collection merges the aesthetic of The Apothecary Diaries with Sanrio’s adorable mascot characters, pairing Maomao with Hello Kitty, Jinshi and Cinnamoroll, Gaoshun and Tuxedo Sam, Xiaolan and Pompompurin, Gyokuyō and My Melody and finally, Shisui and Pochacco.

Pre-orders for the “Sanrio x The Apothecary Diaries” collab collection are now open via the Sanrio Anime Store Online until June 30, 2026.

Physical pop-up shop events offering the collection will take place at the Sanrio Anime Store in Ikebukuro P’PARCO from August 7, 2026 to August 16, 2026, at Abeno Lucbus within Abeno Hoop from August 28, 2026 to September 6, 2026, and at Canal City OPA in Fukuoka from September 25, 2026 to October 4, 2026.

For every ¥2,200 spent on eligible items at the pop-up stores (approx. $15 USD/ £11 GBP), fans will receive one randomly selected postcard from a collection of six designs.

The postcard bonus will be limited to participating retail venues and distributed while supplies last.

A second online sales window will also be available via the Sanrio Anime Store Online from August 7, 2026 until October 4, 2026.

Fans purchasing through the online store will also be eligible for special bonus items tied to their order totals.

For every ¥2,200 spent on qualifying products (approx. $15 USD/ £11 GBP), one randomly selected illustration card from a set of six designs will be provided as a gift.

These illustration cards will only be available through online purchases during the designated sales periods.
