Exclusive Pikachu Timer Revealed as McDonald’s Pokémon Summer 2026 Campaign Gets Underway
McDonald’s Japan has unveiled its Pokémon Summer Chance Bag 2026, introducing a new collection of exclusive Pokémon-themed merchandise available through a special prize draw campaign as part of this year’s Pokémon Summer at McDonald’s event.
Pokémon began with the release of Pokémon Red and Green in 1996 before growing into one of the world’s biggest entertainment franchises, spanning video games, trading cards, animation, movies and merchandise enjoyed by fans across multiple generations.
The limited-edition Summer Chance Bag is part of a wider Pokémon-themed promotional campaign and bundles together four exclusive items designed around some of the franchise’s most recognizable Pokémon, making it one of this summer’s biggest promotional releases for collectors and fans alike.
Leading the lineup is the Pop-Up Pikachu French Fry Timer, which recreates McDonald’s familiar “Tirori” fries-ready melody before a hidden Pikachu springs out from inside the timer.
Also included is a Color Change Cup featuring Pikachu alongside one of the original Kanto starter Pokémon, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, with one of three different randomly selected designs packed inside each bag.
Buyers will also receive a matching zip pouch decorated with Pikachu and the same trio of classic starter Pokémon, with three random designs available across the collection.
Completing the package is a set of McDonald’s free product vouchers with a maximum total value of ¥3,910, adding extra value alongside the exclusive collectibles.
The Pokémon Summer Chance Bag 2026 will once again be distributed through McDonald’s official app using a lottery system rather than standard retail sales.
Customers who are enrolled in the My McDonald’s Rewards loyalty program by the close of the application period will automatically receive double the chance of being selected in the lottery.
The Pokémon Summer Chance Bag 2026 is priced at ¥3,900 (approx. $27 USD / £20 GBP).
Lottery applications will be accepted through the official McDonald’s app between July 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM and July 20, 2026, at 11:59 PM, with successful applicants announced from July 24, 2026, before purchases can be completed at participating McDonald’s locations between July 27 and August 2, 2026.
