SQUARE ENIX opens orders for new Cloud Strife figure on his birthday

To celebrate the birthday of Cloud Strife on the 11th of August, Square Enix has opened pre-orders for a new, high-end action figure of the iconic hero.
The new “PLAY ARTS Shin Cloud Strife” is based on his appearance in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

This figure is the latest entry in the company’s “PLAY ARTS Shin” line, which represents an evolution from the previous “PLAY ARTS Kai” series.

A key improvement in the “Shin” line is the use of new, non-clicking joint parts, which allow for a smoother and wider range of motion than in previous figures.

Another new gimmick for the series is the inclusion of individually movable eyeballs, which allows for subtle changes in the character’s expression and gaze, enabling a much wider range of situational expressions.

The sculpt of the figure meticulously details Cloud’s iconic spiky golden hair, his determined expression, and the textures of his SOLDIER uniform.

A wide variety of accessories are included with the figure to allow for the recreation of numerous scenes from the game.
It comes with Cloud’s signature Buster Sword, which can be equipped with the included, different-colored Materia.

An alternate, intense “battle face” is also part of the set, and the movable eye gimmick is present on both of the face plates.

Also included are a set of interchangeable hand parts, including a hand for holding a flower and another for holding the pivotal Black Materia.
The “PLAY ARTS Shin Cloud Strife” stands approximately 26.7 centimeters tall.

Priced at ¥26,400 (approx. $179 USD/£134 GBP), pre-orders for the figure began on the 11th of August via the official Square Enix store and it is scheduled to be released on the 28th of February, 2026.
