Sanrio’s Most Popular Character Announces His Own Summer Music Festival
Sanrio has officially unveiled PomFes, a brand-new festival dedicated to Pompompurin that will celebrate his 30th anniversary and recent victory in the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking.
Pompompurin first debuted in 1996 and has become one of Sanrio’s most recognizable characters, winning generations of fans with his easygoing personality, signature brown beret and love of relaxing with friends.
Taking place over two days, PomFes will transform Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse’s Event Plaza into an immersive celebration inspired by Pompompurin’s cheerful world and laid-back outlook on life.
The event is built around the anniversary message “Don’t worry about the difficult things,” encouraging visitors to leave everyday stress behind and enjoy a space where they can relax, laugh and embrace Pompompurin’s carefree pace.
Both days will feature special performance stages starring Pompompurin alongside a lineup of guest artists, with the full stage schedule available through the official PomFes website.
Day One will feature performances from galaxy punk band Wienners, popular idol group Juice=Juice and dance vocal group Panda Dragon.
Day Two will welcome singer-songwriter asmi, four-member group Monaki and rising five-member boy band WILD BLUE to the PomFes stage.
Away from the live performances, visitors can browse exclusive Pompompurin merchandise created especially for the event, enjoy limited-time food, take part in game attractions and experience a variety of other themed activities throughout the venue.
Sanrio has also confirmed that additional attractions, venue maps and further event information will be announced toward the end of August.
General admission to PomFes will be free, while tickets for the premium front stage viewing area are priced at ¥1,500 (approx. $10 USD / £7 GBP) through Ticket Pia’s advance lottery system.
Lottery applications for the premium stage area are open via the official website from July 14 until 11:59 PM on August 5, 2026.
PomFes will take place at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Plaza on September 12 and 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM each day.
