Sanrio Announces New Collab with Ai Yazawa’s Neighborhood Story

A new collaboration pairing Ai Yazawa’s beloved manga Neighborhood Story with Sanrio’s iconic characters has been announced, bringing together two fan-favorite worlds in a collection of exclusive merchandise and themed retail events.
The crossover combines the fashionable and expressive style of Neighborhood Story with the charming appeal of Sanrio’s character lineup, creating a range of products aimed at fans who appreciate cute designs with a mature, stylish twist.

Originally created by Ai Yazawa, Neighborhood Story remains one of the author’s most celebrated works and is remembered for its focus on fashion, creativity, friendship, and young adulthood.

The series follows Mikako Koda, an aspiring fashion designer attending an arts-focused high school, as she pursues her dreams while navigating relationships, personal growth, and the challenges of creative life.

Over the years, the series has earned a lasting following thanks to its distinctive visual style and its influence on fashion-oriented manga and anime culture.

Returning to the Neighborhood Story x Sanrio collaboration, fans can look forward to a dedicated pop-up store event featuring a wide selection of limited-edition collectibles, accessories, apparel, and lifestyle items inspired by the crossover.
Among the featured products are five different plush toys priced at ¥5,280 each (approx. $36 USD/£27 GBP).

A matching collection of five plush keychains will also be available for ¥2,640 each (approx. $18 USD/£13 GBP).

Fans can also pick up a Happy Berry-themed plush pouch for ¥2,750 (approx. $19 USD/£14 GBP).


The merchandise lineup includes four closet-inspired acrylic dioramas, each priced at ¥2,750 (approx. $19 USD/£14 GBP).

Four varieties of double-charm keyholders will be available for ¥1,100 each (approx. $8 USD/£6 GBP).

Collectors can choose from four different A3 posters priced at ¥1,210 each (approx. $8 USD/£6 GBP).

A sticker set featuring collaboration artwork will be offered for ¥1,100 (approx. $8 USD/£6 GBP).

Additional items include a can mirror priced at ¥1,100 (approx. $8 USD/£6 GBP).

Two styles of hair clips will be available for ¥990 each (approx. $7 USD/£5 GBP).

Apparel options include a half-zip pullover priced at ¥8,250 (approx. $56 USD/£42 GBP).

A shopping bag featuring collaboration artwork will also be available for ¥550 (approx. $4 USD/£3 GBP).

Fans looking for practical accessories can also purchase a pouch priced at ¥2,750 (approx. $19 USD/£14 GBP).

The most premium apparel item in the collection is a roomwear set priced at ¥13,200 (approx. $90 USD/£67 GBP).

Several additional products are still awaiting final product designs, these include a collaboration mug priced at ¥1,870 (approx. $13 USD/£9 GBP), and a themed towel handkerchief available for ¥1,100 (approx. $8 USD/£6 GBP).
A decorative hair ribbon will also join the lineup for ¥1,980 (approx. $13 USD/£10 GBP).
The collaboration merchandise will debut alongside a travelling pop-up store event scheduled to visit four cities throughout 2026.

The tour begins at Tokyo’s Yurakucho Marui from July 10 to July 20, followed by Namba Marui in Osaka from August 21 to August 30.
The third stop will take place at Nagoya PARCO from September 12 to September 27.
The final venue will be Shibuya Modi from October 16 to October 25, with the mug, towel handkerchief, pouch, hair ribbon, and roomwear joining the lineup beginning with the Shibuya event.
Customers who spend over 3,000 yen in a single transaction at any of the pop up shops will receive a special bonus postcard selected at random from 7 exclusive designs.

Fans interested in the Neighborhood Story x Sanrio collaboration will be able to find the exclusive merchandise and event displays at the various pop-up store locations across Japan throughout the second half of 2026.
