Exclusive New Gundam Anime Short Bids Farewell to Tokyo’s Life-Size Unicorn Gundam Statue

Tokyo’s life-size Unicorn Gundam statue is preparing for its final days at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, with Bandai announcing a special 10-day nighttime presentation ahead of the landmark’s exhibition ending on August 31, 2026.
The centerpiece of the farewell will be “UNICORN GUNDAM Statue – BEYOND POSSIBILITY -,” a newly created exclusive anime short that synchronizes the towering mobile suit statue with video projections displayed across the exterior of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.

Based on the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam UC, the full-scale statue has become one of Odaiba’s best-known attractions for Gundam fans, recreating the mobile suit at life size alongside lighting and transformation effects inspired by its appearance in the anime.

It has recently been given a refresh with new stickers applied to celebrate its final weeks on display.

The new finale presentation will run each evening from August 22 through August 31, giving visitors 10 days to experience the exclusive production before the statue’s current exhibition comes to an end.

“BEYOND POSSIBILITY” will screen at 8:00 PM as part of a larger nightly program, beginning with “MidNight CHA CHA” at 7:00 PM and a Mobile Suit Gundam UC Special Movie set to SawanoHiroyuki[nZk]:Tielle’s “Cage” at 7:30 PM.

Later screenings include a revival of the 2017 “Tobe! Gundam” presentation at 8:30 PM, Mobile Suit Gundam UC Perfectibility at 9:00 PM, and GUNDAM:BEYOND at 9:30 PM, creating a full evening of Gundam-themed projections around the statue.

Fans visiting before the finale can also look back at the Unicorn Gundam’s history inside THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO ANNEX, where panels tracing the statue’s past and a dedicated diorama are currently on display.

Message boards have also been installed at THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO and the nearby GUNDAM Café kitchen truck, allowing visitors to leave their own farewell messages for the statue during its final weeks.

The GUNDAM Café kitchen truck is serving a “Life-Size Unicorn Gundam Statue Shaved Ice” for ¥1,130 (approx. $7 USD / £5 GBP), which comes with an original cup sleeve created for the farewell campaign.

Anyone purchasing an item from the kitchen truck will also receive a Unicorn Gundam headband while supplies last, giving fans an extra accessory to wear when taking final photos with the statue.

The truck will operate near the Tokyo Teleport Station gate through August 12 before moving to the Festival Plaza area on the second floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza from August 13.
DiverCity is also holding a holographic sticker campaign from August 10 through August 31, with visitors who spend at least ¥3,000 (approx. $19 USD / £14 GBP) in a single transaction at participating stores able to exchange their receipt for a commemorative Unicorn Gundam sticker.

The “UNICORN GUNDAM Statue – BEYOND POSSIBILITY -” short will air from August 22 through August 31 at the Festival Plaza outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, bringing the life-size Unicorn Gundam’s current Tokyo exhibition to a final close with 10 nights of dedicated performances.
