Tokyo’s Life-Size Unicorn Gundam to Get Hajime Katoki Designed Upgrade Ahead of August 2026 Retirement

Fans visiting Tokyo’s famous Unicorn Gundam statue will soon be able to experience the landmark attraction in a unique new form as a special farewell presentation has been announced.
The life-size Unicorn Gundam currently standing in Festival Plaza at DiverCity Tokyo will receive an exclusive decorative makeover for a limited time before the statue formally retires and is removed later this year.

The updated appearance will feature newly applied decals created by renowned mechanical designer Hajime Katoki, whose work has become closely associated with numerous Gundam projects over the years.
Following the transformation, the towering life-sized Gundam will officially be renamed the “RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL”.

The special exterior design is intended to commemorate the final chapter of the statue’s long-running public exhibition and provide visitors with one last opportunity to view the iconic mobile suit in a refreshed form.
The life-size Unicorn Gundam first debuted in 2017 and quickly became one of the most recognizable Gundam attractions in the world.

Modeled after the mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, the structure gained widespread attention thanks to its transformation system, which recreates the machine’s famous shift into Destroy Mode seen in the anime series.
The ability to physically alter its appearance helped distinguish the attraction from previous Gundam statues and made it a major destination for both anime fans and tourists.

This new project coincides with the final months of the statue’s exhibition, as the life-size Unicorn Gundam is scheduled to conclude its public display on August 31 after nearly nine years in Odaiba.
The special “Ver. TWC FINAL” design will therefore serve as a farewell tribute to one of Gundam’s most celebrated real-world attractions before its long-running exhibition comes to an end.

Alongside the special display, the nearby Gundam Café kitchen truck in Odaiba will also host a promotional campaign centered around Unicorn Gundam-themed headbands.

Visitors who purchase an eligible item from the kitchen truck during the campaign will receive one Unicorn Gundam headband as a complimentary gift.
The commemorative “RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. TWC FINAL” decal design will be available for public viewing from June 20 through August 31.
