Pokémon is getting a cozy new Animal Crossing style life simulation game

A brand-new Pokémon game, titled “Pokémon Pokopia,” has been officially announced for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The reveal was made during a Nintendo Direct presentation held on the 12th of September.

This new game puts a unique and peaceful twist on the familiar Pokémon formula, placing players in the role of a Ditto that has transformed into a human.

As the human-transformed Ditto, players will be able to explore the world, gathering crafting materials like wood and rocks to build their own cozy home.

A key and unique feature of the gameplay is that the Ditto protagonist can learn moves from other Pokémon.

However, instead of being used for combat, these moves are utilized as tools to help build and cultivate the environment.

The trailer for the game showed the player using Bulbasaur’s “Leafage” to add greenery to the landscape, and Squirtle’s “Water Gun” to hydrate plants.

The ultimate goal of the game is to savor a “slow life” as you build furniture, grow vegetables, and create a welcoming paradise for other Pokémon to come and live in.

The game will also feature a natural, shifting day-and-night cycle and a dynamic weather system.

This charming and inventive take on the Pokémon universe was one of several major announcements made during the Nintendo Direct.
A major double announcement was also made for the Super Mario Galaxy franchise.
A new animated film, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” was confirmed for an April 2026 release.

A new Nintendo Switch game, “Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2,” was also announced for an October 2nd release.

New amiibo figures for the upcoming racing game, Kirby’s Air Rider, were also revealed.
These new amiibo feature a unique, “mix-and-match” gimmick that allows the rider and vehicle parts to be physically swapped, a change which is then reflected in the game.

Additionally, a new piece of merchandise, a real-life “Talking Flower” based on the character from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, was also announced for a Spring 2026 release.
“Pokémon Pokopia” is scheduled to be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the spring of 2026.
