Official EVANGELION STORE opens first ever location in China
The official EVANGELION STORE SHANGHAI is set to open its doors on Friday, June 20th, 2025.
The limited time store will open in celebration of the Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Located on the fourth floor of the Bailian ZX Chuangquchang mall on Shanghai’s bustling Nanjing East Road, the store aims to offer a dedicated space for fans in China to experience the world of Evangelion.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a globally influential Japanese anime franchise created by Hideaki Anno and produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production.
Since its debut in 1995, the series has become a cultural touchstone known for its complex narrative, psychological depth, mecha designs (Evangelions), and philosophical themes.
The franchise is currently observing its 30th anniversary, leading to various commemorative projects and increased international attention.
The Bailian ZX Chuangquchang mall itself is a prominent destination in Shanghai, catering primarily to anime, manga, and game enthusiasts.
The mall is also home to the first ever dedicated SEGA store, which opened in May.
The EVANGELION STORE SHANGHAI aims to mirror the experience of the TOKYO-01 store in Ikebukuro, providing a comprehensive selection of Evangelion merchandise.
The new Shanghai location will stock a wide range of EVANGELION STORE original products.
Additionally, it plans to progressively release China-exclusive original merchandise, catering specifically to the local fanbase.
The establishment of this temporary store underscores the franchise’s significant and growing popularity in China, offering a direct retail point for fans to acquire official goods.
Fans visiting Shanghai are encouraged to stop by the store to explore the unique product lineup and participate in the 30th-anniversary festivities.
There is currently no confirmation as to when the temporary store will close, indicating that if sales targets are met the store may become a permanent fixture.
